Good afternoon lovely people 🥳

Well, as predicted, I went quiet last night because I fell asleep!! Not just because of the beer I hasten to add but I’m sure it helped!

Today we’re hosting our grand-daughters summer party so I might not get to post very much. I did manage this morning to build the keg cooling jacket I noted in my brew-day post and have plenty of pictures to put together a thread.

Anyone waiting for my other thread on wrangling King Kegs, I haven’t forgotten and have already written up most of the content.

Anyway, lots more later if I survive today! In the meantime, have a good ‘un. Cheers! Saison!

testing out the just carbonated dipa that i added half camden tabs at dry hop and packaging. tastes great malty and hoppy. although i do get a feint hit of sulfur about the same as i usually get in a lager. im hoping it fades in time.

onto the california common. this one is turning out really great. the sladek hop seems to be a nice fruitier version of the northern brewer hop. it has a super interesting apple peachiness that meshes well with the darker crystal malts.

A pint (ok, several pints) of my magical 'will not clear' Kolsch. It's nice, the Hallertau Blanc hops are ok but I think they would be better partnered with another hop. They just seem a bit one dimensional. I'm thinking they could shine replacing Saaz in a historical Saaz / British hop combo recipe. Am messing about on brewfather as I type.

I used H Blanc in a lager I got hopelessly wrong and fermented with California Common. So while there is a hint of the grapes and peach it is drowned out by esters/diacetyl. I'm hoping it will improve with time.

Second batch with H Blanc used it for bittering with H Mittelfruh for aroma. While this one is still conditioning you can still taste a hint of the HB despite 60 minutes of boiling. It seems to have a smooth bitterness.

The elderflower champagne getting cracked open today. Tastes great. It’s the Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall recipe that gets a slagging from some for being ‘high risk’ but I just de-risk it by conditioning in a keg with a PRV.

Boundary Brewing Bingaling (6%) IPA

This has unfortunately being lingering at the back of my fridge for about 4 months, it’s not bad but don't think it is one that improves with age.

It seems to have a smooth bitterness.
Completely agree with that. It's like a nice smooth bitterness with Nobel hop notes; which is odd because it's a child of cascade. I don't detect much gooseberry or fruit at all, sometimes I kind of get a hint of the blanc wine aroma but only a little. I think it may have a role replacing Saaz in some of my historical English recipes, but I won't use it as a single hop again.

A Gentle Nod to Welcome Visitor (Cloud water) 9%

I just love this it is probably my favourite Cloud Water Beer just trying to decide if I should order some more of it.

This is a review of @pilgrimhudd treacle ale 7.8%.
It's well carbonated and pours with slight fizz. It's a deep dark red. Head fades
Aroma is lovely sweet malt slightly earthy/floral. Treacle is in the back ground but not dominant.
Taste again is lovely sweet malt, bitterness is high but It suits the sweetness. Not getting much alcohol surprising. Nice blend of flavours from the malt hops and treacle.
Over all I really enjoyed trying this beer. Not sure what style it falls into but It would do me on a winter's night in front of the fire. Thank you for sharing 🍻🍻

I had a Mango IPA earlier. I have never tasted a beer like it. It was like drinking a Mango smoothie. Not really something I would make but it was great to try. A friend made it, only down side the mango was too dominant, you couldn't pick out the hops at all.
