Oops, accidents do happen if you're not careful. One badly aimed thrust of a hand into a dark cupboard on a wet night, and out popped this bottle.

No choice but to drink it, I suppose. :confused.:

Gahh! This is past it's best. BBE Jun 2020 the bottle shows. It tastes quite butterscotch, so I'm thinking diacetyl. Does that become accentuated over time?

As a change the BBE on this is 2038!!!
7% lambic. Not had one before and not sure. I get it as I try to make "wild" beer every now and then and much like those want to try more despite the uncertainty...

Two days left, should I take the one bottle of 1999 Qwak???

I don’t think so. It’s just there and likely to stay there if you have it. If it’s diacetyl it will also feel quite slippery on the roof of your mouth.
Maybe oxidation then. It's caramelly with a twang of aftertaste. But there's the smell of butterscotch too.

2038! Sounds like it might be a bit green then! Needs a bit more time to condition, about 10 years should do it!

It's not one of the greatest geuze in the world but it's still a really nice beer. Wish I had one right now actually, but I'll have to make do with my own Orval clone

Am I the only one who looks at the BBE when opening a new exciting beer? Lol.
It usually seems to be a year from bottling/canning but occasionally 2 or 3 with higher ABVs

We have a thread called what kit beers are you drinking tonight but not what homebrew are you drinking tonight or what bought beer are you drinking tonight. I've no problem with bought beers but let's separate them from people's homebrew. Anyone can buy a beer from a shop but it's a craft to brew good beer so let's celebrate it.
Create a brew thread for the brew day.

Does this all the time, especially in super markets that often put out beer that's been sat in a warehouse for 6 months
