Right, ive just bought a Tooheys lager kit, Coopers malt extract, 1kg sugar, Green bullet & Saaz hops.

Now the guy in the shop said I can use the malt extract instead of the sugar. "The more malt is in there, the better the taste" he said. He also said I could use half sugar & half of the malt as if to say theres no hard & fast rules.

Strength doesn't matter, I just want more flavour, so whats best way for me to use these products ive just bought?. Can anyone recommend a video or give me some step by step instructions if you have time?.

Thank you

I would go with using the malt extract you will get a far better beer using it rather than sugar, using the malt will give your beer better body and flavour, using sugar alone will give you a beer thats lacking a bit of body and flavour, :thumb:

This might be a step too far seeing as your just begining but if your home brew shop stocks grains and has pale malt/marris otter you could do what's known as a partial mash. This is where you mash the extra fermentables yourself giving you the freshest 'extract' and the best tasting kit beer possible. You'd need a large (10-15L I think) pot and a 'mash bag' something like a 5G paint strainer that you can get from ebay or you can make one yourself from net curtain material.

Like I say seeing as your only just begining you might want to just use dried malt extract but this isn't hard to do. I just note you particularly stress that you want more fllavour

Have a look a our Dark Lord Clibit's kit plus mini mash guide
