My bubbles are pretty much gone, and the bottles will arrive later today, so - BOTTLING DAY! :)

I do see 6g/500ml of syrup for priming, but what sugar content are we talking about? How much pure sugar per 500ml bottle chaps?

I can't wait to have a taste...

I'm sure Roddy, magpie, or Mrc will confirm but I think it has been determined that 6ml per 500ml bottle is enough syrup to give a good fizz and a nice flavour, sugar will give fizz but no flavour, so folks are just using syrup instead of sugar to sweeten and flavour.

Good news magpie [emoji108]🏼[emoji108]🏼

I've your aiming for 6g as you did last time I work it out like this

25000ml / 500ml (bottles)

= 50 bottles

50 x 6g = 300ml of syrup

Give or take a bottle for what you leave on the sediment

Should give you good fizz

I think [emoji849]
don't think your maths is all there matey

the syrup isn't 100g of sugar per 100ml

so if you want 6g if sugar per 500ml, and 50 bottles, it's

300g of sugar required, so 300/ 0.80 (if the syrup is 80g per 100ml), to get the ml of liquid (eg 375ml)

that's what I use, but is prob more fizzy than some like...

I want to try this.

is it easy to make 5l from the recipe at the start of the thread?

yes there are 5L versions in the thread too, and a 'no extra sugar' version to make it more like 5%

I started the 5% no added sugar version, using
3L value apple juice and 1L water earlier this week, tsp pectolase, tsp nutrient, tsp cider yeast, tsp glycerine, 3 tbsp lemon juice, mug o strong tea, I will prime with Lowicz raspberry syrup when bottling

There are plenty of websites claiming Aspartame and Acesulfame K and other artificial sweeteners are carcinogenic, just google health risks.
just as well i stick to the recommended intake of alcohol too... oops 😯

I racked of to another DJ batch primed with 65ml of syrup and bottled

I added 100ml of syrup in at the start which brought the ABV up to 8% so take that out if you don't want a high percentage

Happy brewing

To late last night didn't do it racked and bottles 12 bottles wow. Racked stabilised and fined 3 further djs of wow. Racked the cider washed and sterilised so much stuff I'd have enough bottle if tonight.

Lmao busy man must have a fair stack of stock now ! Everyone is teasing the life out of me, only a week till I get home now [emoji849][emoji849][emoji849]

I am not here to preach just to add a word of warning to other members who might think about using these types of artificial sweeteners.
My son used to drink diet fizzy pop as he wouldn't drink squash etc, a member of staff at work told me about the dangers of these sweeteners so i did some research and to cut a long story short we stopped him drinking diet pop, he didn't turn into a beach-ball with fingers as the "experts" would have you believe and we have the peace of mind we are not harming his health.

I do agree to some extent. My philosophy has always been one of moderation. I was a vaper. I listened for years go people telling me inc govt and scientists that vamping was bad. Now they know yes it's not great but 95% batter than smoking.
In this example I have struggled with weight so do I use these or be obese.
As I said everything in moderation. That said if there was a way to get that result without that sweetener I would. And I will keep trying first step for me was proving I could make a cider that tastes that close to shop bought from 55p Apple juice ready to drink inside two weeks

Stage 1 cleared.
Sorry to rabbit on

Well... If you want some of that good old artificial sweetness up in your cider, better hurry as that eBay seller only has 4 left! (kinda my fault).

Personally, I live and eat pretty well. The occasional food chemical doesn't bother me especially considering all the other chemicals that used to accompany my weekends.
