Damn good idea Rob :thumb:
This is the configuration I am considering.

I have two pumps at my disposal so it should work well :hmm:
I bought two 2.5 & one 6.5mm cobalt drill bits today so I shall butcher the 50l stock pot tomorrow :?

Now then tubby after all your hard work why not bin the workmates and get one of These to put your pots on, stainless and only £70, quite sturdy too for the price, I was looking at them the other week. :thumb:

I have finally done a bit more work

The hop stopper looks lost inside the new copper

I also butchered my 50l stock pot, drilling the pilot hole was the hardest part, once that was in the 8mm hole was easy :D

I have built the false bottom and it sits snugly to the bottom of the mash tun held down by the copper pipe

Drilling the 2.5mm holes in the false bottom plate is a PITA  I have done about 1/4 of it so far

More drilling to do and then some plumbing

I'd be tempted to bin the plate and get a MDisco false bottom, less hassle and way more sexy..

If MD has stopped Making the best Falsies in the world, have a look at one of These I think they are a pretty good price being as they are from a HBS & will last far longer than Barbies Plate, :D

As I started the job I thought I'd better finish it
God knows how many holes are in it but it's a lot :(

If or when it breaks I'll be buying a ready made one :thumb:

The mash tun also has it's first layer of insulation :D

Which is stuck on with silicone, it is also sealed at all joints with silicone to prevent the ingress of wort which would harbour spoilage nasties :nono:
It is getting another layer of insulation over the top but this layer is shiny :D

Looking good :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

However that mash strainer plate makes me think of my mum having her streaks put in, it looks like one of those daft rubber caps women put on when having highlights put in

Should do the trick ok though, get your cock in it soon. (ale that is)

The build is looking GREAT! Where did you get ahold of that insulation (both the blue and the silver)?

The only silver stuff I have seen is from B&Q and it's a tad expensive.

The blue insulation is THIS and the silver insulation is this

And to confuse things further the HLT and mash tun lid
