Right at last we are moved into the new house and all the final little bits that needed doing should be completed early next week so it's time to get the brewery build under-way :D

I have decided to go up in size and to this end I have ordered a 100l stainless stock pot fitted with 3 piece stainless valve from The Malt Miller to use as my copper.
To power this beast I have decided to heat with gas and have ordered an 8.8kw propane boiling ring, hose and regulator.
Here it is

I will use my existing 60L plastic copper as the HLT, I will most likely be using a 20/12 pump and the usual plastic FVs
I am still undecided what to us as a mash tun though :wha:

The brewery will be sited in a new8 by 6 secure shed once the garden is sorted, it started off looking like the Somme but after a little work it looks more like Ypres

The garden now has a shed base

I will keep posting as the build goes on :thumb:

Great to see it's all started to happen buddy :thumb:

Looks like you're putting a lot of effort into this - good stuff!

If its of use, I moved out to brewing in my garage after a recent up-scaling and I'd 'really' under-estimated the inconvenience of not having drains and water supplies on hand - if its early enough, could be worth thinking about.

Cheers

I've just bought a large water butt to collect the hot water waste from the chiller, I'm on a split level though and am loking out at the carboots for a cheap sink :wha:

Hi Tubby, If you don't fancy running pipes under the garden, my solution to water supply is (photo) this inside my shed leading out through the side where I have a brass 'hoselock' connector, to which a standard garden hose is attached on brewdays. Only trouble is it warms up a bit in the summer and the cooler reduces efficiency. If you dig a big hole and fill it with hardcore, it will work as a soakaway OK but I try and chuck anything smelly down a proper drain or in my composter.

I've attached a link to my shed build project but sorry the photos are in a random order.

It' worth thinking about a design which allows you to 'swill out' the floor of the brewery, ie. sloping to the door and waterproof if you can manage it.

Thanks for the advice guys :thumb:
Things are moving on :D
The garden was finished today apart from the tidying up I have to do

So I will call the shed people tomorrow to arrange delivery of the brew shed
As you can see in the piccie above I have a nice full 19kg propane bottle so the heating is sorted.
I have decided to convert my 50L stockpot into my mash tun and to this end I have bought some shiny insulation and the start of a camp false bottom

I will probably source a Qmax cutter over the weekend and cut the hole for the tap :hmm:
Watch this space more to come :thumb:

Glad things are going well TS, but it looks like a very low maintenance "garden", wouldn't you consider a few flowers or pot plants?

looking good ts, i will be interested to know how many brews you get per 19kg of gas, i just about made 4, that heated hlt and copper though. i much prefer brewing in the shed as your not getting told off for making mess

Now then 'athon, is this all because Tony did it a few weeks ago? :D
Absolutely
I have ordered an sp14 10 pump from Here as I plan to run it from a battery. I have also ordered a ss ball valve and bulkhead fitting for the mash tun and a 22mm Q max cutter to make the hole.
The shed gets delivered this coming Thursday as does the copper hopefully :D
