how long should you give a wine before going down the finings route? Ive got a dandelion, hawthorn blossom and elderflower doing their thing. Dandelion has cleared great. Elderflower getting there but less so with the hawthorn. All are roughly 3 to 4 months in...

Hawthorne berries are basically balls of pectin, all that will clear it is pectic enzyme, double dose it :thumb: there's every small chance you may have to drink it cloudy at this point, but it's still better than Turner Road. Regular finings won't clear it.

Sounds like the elderflower could use finings now. mine doesn't seem that clear either though compared to WOWs, but comes up clearer in a wine glass than in the demi john - I think filtering might be the best option if you want extra clarity, but meh...
