You may think BJ had it bad. He has been advised to recuperate and not to return to leading government yet.

My brother-in-law has followed BJ almost to the day with his symptoms. He is a Consultant Doctor and specialist in respiratory care in a Midlands hospital. He has been self-isolating for 3 weeks needing to crawl on his knees, totally devoid of strength, to the bedroom door to get a glass of water. He couldn't eat for several days. His young children don't understand. He's as weak as a kitten. No coronavirus tests for a front line consultant? No PPE? No checks from NHS on wellbeing of their own doctor who could really make a difference on the frontline. This is all wrong.

BJ had two nurses by his side through this. My Brother in law was left on his own within his own surrounds, exact same timescale. I've seen him on video conference, he's not fit to return to work, but he'll go back in to hospital this Friday.

He wanted to go back last Sunday, against the protests of his wife and family. That's f--king dedication for you.

As you can understand, the derelection of duty from senior politicians is close to heart.

Well one strain seems to be able to kill fit healthy people and others may have no symptoms.

That applies to most viruses. The common cold is a perfect example of this. For some people it'll lay you low for a couple of days. For more vulnerable people, it can lead to respiratory complications, and in some cases, death.

Yes, they must be safe as possible before saving. Its not the armed forces they signed up to.

Yes but this isn't the case when some elderly weaker people have recovered and fit healthy young have died, it's not that clear cut.

Yeah but some elderly people are like rods of iron. They’re like unkillable, kept alive by sheer bloody mindedness. ‘Corona? What ******* Corona?! In my
day we had to deal with things you youngsters wouldn’t even see in your worst nightmares....’

etc.

The number of fit and healthy younger people dying from it is very low. It's just being disproportionately reported on with Coronavirus. There is increasing evidence that it may affect certain ethnic groups more than others though.

Much like any other viral infections, the biggest risk factors by some distance, are: prexisting conditions that may make the individual more susceptible to complications; multiple comorbities, and age.

Well more ethnic groups working in hospitals anyway, there is now a hell of a lot of healthy fit people who have died now. Things don't seem to fit in the normal boxes with this for me, I just think alot is being covered up or symply isn't known or understood.

Or it just isn't something you have enough knowledge to understand. A lot is known and understood about the virus, by people's whose job it is to understand these things. Guesswork and opinion don't really add anything.

Your comment on the number of ethnic groups working in hospital is incorrect also. Non-white healthcare workers account for around 20% of the workforce, yet they they account for over 60% of the deaths within healthcare workers. It is far too early to say why this may be the case.

People with nothing wrong with them die now then? Like legit healthy people? Do you know how many?

I kinda haven’t seen the news properly for like 3 weeks. It plays at work on a tv but I’ve been working from home, I just get random news reports through some crappy app thing.

That and the informative bits that people like Chippy (spelling) post.

Obviously you clearly have. I understand I haven't even though
I'm a bit scientific myself and without seeing and knowing the facts myself I'll reserve that judgement what it was I had however it was remarkably similar.
As for ethnic groups only being among 20% of overall NHS, this could be true however I don't think it is regarding front line and senior practitioners who have much more contact with this but I think the full studies will show if there are links. The quicker they understand this virus the better.

Figures on the news put the numbers of healthcare workers from BAME background at just under 20%. That link gives you the official numbers for the whole of the NHS (12.3%).

Having a virus that presented similarly to this isn't particularly remarkable, especially if you're a smoker (I seem to recall you mentioning this in another thread).

I think trump is playing a huge gamble with the economy over lives, I did notice he didn't turn up at these events shaking any hands, openly supporting the states only from a safe distance. This could easily backfire for the US.

Don't mention economy, you'll get @foxy started. I'm off to bed, goodnight...

I wasn't referring to the whole NHS and
I understand my word is nothing but neither is yours and as for the published figures, I will wait to see if they change because they often do as have many so called facts we where told at the beginning of this pandemic.
As for the diagnosis, thanks that's sorted then.

The 12.3% refers to the whole of the NHS workforce. The 20% refers to frontline healthcare workers within the NHS. It is not my word, those are official figures.

There is no point in discussing this with you if you truly believe that your opinion is of equal value to facts. We've done this before.

I spend my working day dealing with this mess, I don't know why I even bothered to engage your nonsense again.
