Hi

I'm making and selling temperature controllers if anyone is interested. I'm currently selling these on eBay and can offer them here for £10 less thanks to having no fees.

They're built into a weatherproof box, are fuse protected, and each socket has a coloured lamp that comes on when activated. The unit can also be wall mounted or just used lying flat.

I've also extended the temperature sensor cable to 3 metres with no loss of accuracy.

I'm selling them for £55 and the postage is £9.50 sent via Parcelforce 48.

Message me if interested.

mm i have a couple of questions

these are used i assume to keep and heat water to a set temperature

the average kettle element is 2.2kw so about 8 and a 1/2 amps

90%of boilers have 2 elements so unless you buy 2 of these its not a practical solution

i hope you have these ce certified for legal and safety reasons
and i assume you have liability insurance that covers this product?
also the size of the cable used to power the unit looks small to me

sorry mate but i see these as non starters
the only real way to make these work is to have them with 2x13a supplies and run the stc with relays that are able to actually switch enough current to make them useful then have 2 heat outputs

Pretty sure it's meant to be a temp control for a fermentation fridge with one heat source and one cooling, rather than to run two heat sources for a boiler.

If i hadn't just bought all the bits to make my own I'd probably have got one!

What honeymomster said. It's not for running high power or multiple elements. I use mine for my fermenting fridge, lagering, fermenting wine in my garage and a bit of sous vide cooking when I get the chance. The lead that powers it was a 13amp kettle lead which is more than enough for the 10amp relays in the STC-1000. It also has a 10amp time delay fuse built in.

Takes me about 2hrs to put one together and I make about £16 if I sell one. I don't think it's a bad deal for someone that doesn't fancy making one themselves.

ok but mate unless you have liability insurance and it ce approved ,if something goes wrong with it or worse you could end up in a lot to serous trouble

I've made a handful and when they're gone they're gone. I'm not a business and it's no different than someone on here selling a boil kettle they made. I appreciate the advice and concern.

You've said the same thing three times now. I'm sure if I go into the articles for sale section here I'll find you handing out the same advice to everyone selling something made or modified.

I was just about to start buying all the bits required to build one of these but having totted up what it would cost/the fuss of waiting for each individual bit to arrive this seems very reasonable. I will take one please. I will PM you.

Good idea mate. Tons of how to's etc.. kicking about but plenty of people who don't have the skills / time to make them.

You're embarrassing yourself now.

If you want to troll me could you do it via private message.

My temperature controller arrived yesterday and despite warnings from some I have not been electrocuted or blown up my brewshed. Gave it a quick test with a couple of bed side lamps and it works a treat. Really happy with it. Cheers Barfly
