I wouldn't be surprised if it is Mauribrew ale 4east re packaged. A good yeast.

Why not use Bungle's recipe and switch the hops? You could maybe take the crystal out and increase the Munich.

Yeah i was thinking about that, was trying to decide on how much to up the Munich by bought to much by mistake as well as Vienna Malt ended up with 6 kgs of each

I was reading this article and got thinking about using up my Vienna as base malt in a repcipe

Sorry been bottling!

I had a PM off a guy who has made beers with 40%ish Vienna and really likes it. I haven't got time atm to get anything together sorry but I think there are ways to use the Munich and Vienna in bigger quantities that could be good, but needs a a bit of research. For now, stick 10-15% in a beer with plenty of hops. Bungle's recipe, with 500-700g Munich or Vienna.

Todays brew so far

Mashed

5 kg Marris otter
3 kg Vienna
1 kg Munich

Hops

Magnum 60 mins
Citra
Simcoe
Amarillo maybe maybe not

Quantities and times not known yet

Yeast
Gozdawa Ale Yeast 7

You're looking at 8% ABV potentially. But efficiency will probably suffer, so maybe 7%

Amarillo and Citra go together really well, and Simcoe will fit in.

Where you up to? I'm painting sorry!

@40 mins thanks Clibit:thumb:

Do you think Amarillo will go with Simcoe and Citra or just leave it out

absolutely it will go. Amarillo will increase the orangyness of it.

The simcoe/citra beer you sent me was spot on. bitterness was brilliant that would make an uber session ipa down the pub. No wonder your locasls barred you, with beer like that why go down the pub.

now if you could just post that lovely recipe so I can estimate unit consumed on my alcohol consumption spreadsheet....

keep up the good work. :-)

now what's the chance of a bottle of that 200g+ hop monster you've just done?

would a 7.75% bottle of dark imperialesk winter beer or a 7% wheat beer infused with cherry syrup tempt you? (beware they are NOT hop bombs but offer something else)

The Riwaka sounds good to me :-)

you can have anything from my sig!

I'm also finding people making Vienna malt smash beers - 100% Vienna, one hop, and Nottingham/Gervin yeast seems popular.

Munich is used quite a lot in American pale ales and IPAs to boost the malt, around 15%, cos their pale malt is less flavoursome than ours.

Yes i have read a few articles today where people have used 100% Vienna as a base malt and more than usual Munich than what we would use in a 23ltr brew
