Hi folks

Is anybody local interested in starting/joining up a local brewing group/network ?
I mostly use another brew forum and have met a few members on there so hopefully they would back me up and say that I'm of good character .
Mostly to share brews, swap yeasts , tips, and chat the fat, doesn't have to be a regular thing just as an when we can meet up.
I know there's a group around Chelmsford , I'm Basildon way so we're looking around the Stanford le hope,Corringham, Grays, Pitsea, Benfleet area's
Any ways let us know what you think

I joined the Shed Brewers for a Saturday meet once, it was a good day and they were some pretty serious and impressive brewers. That particular meeting was near Chelmsford but they move it around all over East Anglia. Starting your own group is a good plan though, as long as you have 2 people, you're a group. You could also try the CBA. If you are a member you have access to a list of members and where they are. I was contacted that way by a fellow in Sussex who was organizing a tour to Darkstar Brewery. I went along and had an awesome time...
I'm not exactly local, but I do get around and would surely find the time at some stage to come and join you for a meet.

If you can think of any more yokels who might be interested drop them a pm just in case they've missed this thread.

Guy's don't forget Mid Essex Craft Brewing Group . . . I'll try and get some contact details . . as they have conveniently forgotten to put them on the website

Was announced Here, but if you want to set up your own local group, please go ahead, the CBA will be happy to provide ideas and website resources if you need/want them.

I'm already a member of the LAB, my regular club. I can't be counted on as a regular at another but I will make an effort to visit another club from time to time. I have done before and enjoy the crossover and sharing...

Hello,

I am interested in getting invloved after xmas.

Feel free to PM me :thumb:

As we are getting more interest what we need now is a venue. Andyco suggested to start with an informal meeting in a pub, fine by me as long as it sells good beer, any ideas.

Just an idea. As driving is not an option most of us seem to be near to the Fenchurch street line. The only one who has shown interest that is not is Steve in Runwell but I know from a previous event he's wife seemed quite happy to drive him, hope I am not presuming to much here. I know there a few pubs near to Benfleet station, are any of these worth considering as the only one I have been in is the Hoy and helmet and that was many many years ago.

Alright people,

DK, Hoy and Helmet is ok but football mad and a thin narrow bar, the Half Crown is good, its opposite side of the road for those of you
who dont know and it has live bands, it would be a good choice as i found in the past an easy atmosphere.
The Last Post in southend is also good and a spoons, burger and a beer, steak and Ale pie meals are good there.

To be honest any bar close to the fenchurch line is cool with me as im sure ill want a beer when we all meet up

I think i can live without driving for one day :)

I agree anything near the fenchurch line is fine, two in Grays that are 500m meters from the station and 30m from each other are

The White Hart (SW Essex CAMRA Pub of the Year 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2011) and

The Theobald Arms (SW Essex CAMRA Pub of the Year 2002)

But I'm easy as have drunk in these pubs for fifteen years or so :D
