Hey guys,

I had a batch of turbo cider that we drank over the weeked which was really nice; was about 7% and tasted lovely. But... the smell off it was not so lovely :( , it smelled a bit like sulphur (I think).

Is this normal? And how can I make it smell nice....?

Cheers

Ben.

Sulphurous smells are quite normal with cider fermentations
But the smell will dissipate given time.
Also some yeasts are more prone to sulphur production than others, which yeast did you use?
Also lower temperature fermentations produce a cleaner end result :thumb:

I used a Young's Cider Yeast...

It fermented for about 7 days then I kegged the whole 25 litres into a plastic keg. The taste was fine (we drank the whole thing)

So the sulphor smell was at drinking stage rather than fermenting :hmm:

I've used youngs cider yeast and not had that before :wha:

Yea at drinking stage... The taste was lovely and, as we got through the keg the smell magically went away!
I think I may have racked a tad early though which may explain it (was still cloudy when drinking).
