You could reverse the roles I guess, get a rubber cap which stretches over the neck of the bottle?

:hmm: but where do you get those from? I thought they were only for the big 5 gallon Demi's?

No I'm not going to give you a bribe

I have some small bottles and a westons scrumpy half DJ that I want to do tiny test Fermentations in
Only I can't seem to find a place that sells smaller diameter rubber bungs with bored holes big enough for an airlock to fit in :nah:

Any ideas? I've tried eBay.

What is the diameter of the hole this might help track down the right bung ...

The internal diameter of the bottle is exactly 20mm so the bottom of the bung would have to start at this and then taper out I guess.

i have been to ebay and asked the size of the bungs in the add there ...
im waiting for a reply ...
if you wont to ask them your self ...
put this number 281073233336 in the ebay search bar ...

Auto parts suppliers I'd guess.

Thanks very much for trying :hat:
I'll shout very loudly at my bungs and MAKE them fit

Seems you can get the big ones with a hole, or the small ones that fit but haven't got a hole.

I tried this, but couldn't get a circular whittle - ended up with a many sided off circle tapered down far too quickly... reminds me to look at that again to see if I can get something smoother looking.

This is exactly what my fears were.. I bet I'd end up with a square peg for a round hole

I've had a reply:

He doesn't do the exact size I need but he does one very close to it, so I've ordered one to see.

Bit pricey at £3.39 but hey I'll give it a go :hmm:

Here's the item number for anyone interested

It doesn't need to be perfect. You can seal it with some melted wax around the mouth of the DJ when you put the bung in.

The bung that you describe seems to be bung size 19 based on the link I posted in this thread earlier. they are selling 2 for £2.49.
Yep that's the right number bung, but the listing is two number 4's for £2.49

Hello,

28mm is the smallest you are going to find in the Homebrew market, however my colleague has suggested that you might search 'pharmaceutical/laboratory suppliers' and hopefully they will be able to help you?...
mabe this will get you what you are looking for ...

I'm off to buy some balloons! What a cool idea. I have a mate who likes to burst 'em & he'll be in for a right old eggy treat!

Careful though!

It's been known for the balloon to inflate and carry the DJ upto the ceiling or out the door
Makes a real mess!
