I brewed a porter a month ago using Danstars Windsor Ale yeast. The plan was to repeat the same brew 10 days later reusing the yeast. I've done this a few times now, saves money and takes off like a rocket. Anyway that was the plan, then I got knocked off my bike and haven't been able to do anything for a few weeks. Today I feel up to doing a brew. :D The thing that bothers me now is that my last brew has been sat on top off the trub for so long I'm not sure whether to reuse the yeast or not.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

How was the yeast stored? I normally keep my slurry in a sealed 200ml jar in the fridge, had no issues with that, or if I am brewing next/same day I just leave a little beer on the pancake.

I haven't racked the previous brew yet so it's still in the fermenter at the moment. Just worried that the yeast won't be so active now as it has been sat so long.

rack your beer off and do what you do with it.
Put the slurry into a fridge with a bit of beer covering it.
Then take a couple of spoons of the slurry and make a starter with it with DME. If alls well with the yeast it will start to work on the DME. If so you got a fridge full o the stuff ....

Normally I just rack off the previous brew as the next one is chilling then just drain the boiler into the fermenter then give it a good stir. After tasting the beer first of course. May'be I should just use a fresh packet of yeast. It will only take a day or so to get going anyway. I just want to get this second porter (these are for Christmas) out off the way so I can get a Goldings smash on the go that's all.

Yep! As I said it wasn't planned but I've not been able to do lifting. Came second best to a Nissan, still hurts.
