Hello,
I have just started a quick wine kit and it is 21 L You have to do your 1st fermentation in the bucket and I have cut a hole in the lid to accept an air lock. It says in the instructions that it doesnt matter but I cannot get the bucket lid to seal. Any handy hints ?
Thanks, Colin.

Bucket lids are only there to keep dust and flies out and are rarely gas tight. I currently have 4 buckets (2 large & 2 small) of which only one seals effectively, but I just don't quite clip that down tight all the way around. None of mine are fitted with airlocks because quite often I might stack them, e.g. with a 15L on top of a 30L.

Hello thanks for your replies.

Why are you trying to get the lid to seal?

The instructions say put into a fermentation bucket after topping up to 21L and fit an air lock so I must confess I couldnt think of anything other than a beer brewing bucket ???

Its obviously a dodgy one as they also say it doesnt matter if the bucket will not seal enough to work an air lock !!

Col.
