Dude
Where did you get the Adnam's yeast, was it recovered from the Crystal Rye bottles?
Local B&M stores still have this for about 85P a bottle and I have had a few, like the liquorice in it and tempted to make some.
You can only get the yeast from their mini kegs I believe.
Hey dudeness, I read back through this thread and saw you liked that tesco/marstons mash up rye pale. It was a fave beer of mine too and what I was aiming for with the rye pale I made recently. It's pretty close too, though you could definitely up the hops.
Recipe is here if you're interested.

Thanks Gareth, that looks a good recipe may well try it at some point. I am well stocked for Rye beer at the moment as I have a batch of rye IPA and a Rye Pale on the go as well plus a Rye porter fermenting away!
You might say you're up to your ryeballs in it.
And I'm not even going to make excuses for that, it's comedy genius.
Never tried a smoked rye beer myself but I imagine it could work ok, if you replace the crystal in that recipe it will be a fairly low percentage of the grist so might not give you an obvious rye flavour in the beer especially with smoky flavours going on as well. You could also replace some or all the caramunich or consider replacing some of the pale malt with rye malt.
If you like the tesco beer you could also try Gareth's recipe from this thread.
