Hi All.

Newbie here and just had a quick question about finings...

I've just finished brewing my Old Norfolk Nog and it tastes excellent, however it hasn't cleared and I have got some finings to help do that.

Would it be a bad idea to take the lid off the pressure barrel, add the finings and then use a co2 bulb to repressurise?
Also, what would the lifespan of the beer be?

Thanks :drink:

If it tastes excellent does it matter that it hasn't cleared.

You will probably find if you leave it longer it will clear fine on it's own.

Get yourself a wooden, or stone, or pewter tankard, then you won't notice that it's not clear.

Personally I would avoid interfering with it as much as possible as you always run the risk of introducing either an infection or some oxygen, so I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

I have personally never used finings, the beer usually clears well give time.

I agree with Steve :thumb:

People can get a bit obsessed with the idea that beer needs to be clear

My Nog cleared well but then I bottled mine, yours will clear but it takes longer in a pressure barrel as it has further to drop

Thanks for all the advice.

Taste is definitely more important.

Yum. :thumb: :thumb:
