Hi all

This might sound silly but bear with me :D

Over the past 2 nights i have been drinking my EDME Lager that i bottled about 5 weeks ago, on friday i had 4 pints and it was lovely, but i noticed that although it kept a nice head there was very little in the way of bubble activity, must have been about 4 or 5 rising to the top at any one time...not really a problem i thought but i would have liked to see a few more.

Last night i sank another 4 pints! and EVERY one of these was totally different, bubbles galore, i am talking hundreds of them! just how i like it!

Thing is these were taken from the same batch, so there is no way that it could just be a fluke that 4 the night before were lifeless and last night they were all perfect?

I conditioned them all the same way, teaspoon of sugar etc. Could it be to do with the glass?? as i seem to remember somewhere that detergent would have a negative affect on bubbles. However you would have thought that after my first pint on friday if it was the glass then it would have maybe corrected itself on the 2nd, 3rd pint etc??

Not really a massive issue, just curious i guess

Thanks all

Chris

temperature? the colder the less bubbles.

forgot to prime those four?

the bubble pixie was having a party elsewhere?

Move on, you had mostly good positive results!
If it happens again then is the time to start dwelling on it.
Strange things happen in brewing, normally it's something silly we've done (we all do it).
These affect the whole brew not just a bit of it, so next time you'll be a little more careful in bottling.
Keep up the good work and these little niggles will happen less often.

was it the same glass? -
I've had this before when i use a glass that doesn't have the widgety things at the bottom, goes flat really quickly. luckily my wife works in a pub and brought home a load of carling glasses that they don't use anymore

found a bit on wikipedia about it here

thanks for the replies, yea it was the same glass...but i am going to try and get one with a widget thing in the bottom
