Yes, that's rightYep, pretty sure I saw them post on Twitter that it would be announced nearer the time to stop exactly that from happening.

Phew, that's lucky. For some reason, I had written on my calendar that the drop off window was the 15th-17th February. When it's actually from now (well actually 27th January) until the 13th February. Good thing I double checked!
Same. I finished my keg of Vienna last night so I cleaned and dismantled my beer lines. Tempted to to a bottle tonight and keep it for Friday and check it’s ok before doing my entry bottles to take to the PO on Saturday.I desperately need to figure out what went wrong with bottling my Scottish National entry before sending this one off. Gonna have to do a couple of test bottles from the keg this week I think.
Could be that the judges just perceived it was a bottling issue. Quite easy to blame bottling when in years gone by everyone bottle conditioned. Now with pressure fermenting, counter pressure filers etc, its a lot easier and more consistent
I packed mine up at the same time as the others so I've just decided to pour them out and rebittle. There was hop creep in mine which I think is the main culpritI desperately need to figure out what went wrong with bottling my Scottish National entry before sending this one off. How long had it sat in a bottle. Must have been a dodgy cap or something to make it that noticeableMine was hammered for oxidation and it's fine out of the keg (as were bottles I've sent to other people) so unfortunately in my case I'm fairly confident it was something that went awry when bottling the competition beers.
I have a counter pressure filler so need to have a good check to see if there's any reason why it didn't work properly.
I've since bottled some to send to @dave_77 for this months forum comp so will be a useful reference to see if that one is ok or not.
About 10 days or so. After having some bottles go missing in the post recently I decided it would be safest to send early. Normally I wait until the last possible moment. How long had it sat in a bottle. Must have been a dodgy cap or something to make it that noticeable
Nabbed it in the hope I can address my bottling issues and get some meaningful feedback on the beer I sent in for the Scottish Nationals.I've just deleted my entry so there is a space available if it is possible to still enter?
It's annoying to lose the fee though isn't it BN?I just binned mine too if anyone else wants in. No need to be slaughtered twice for the same thing, and I dont have anything else ready.
I actually thin what I need to do for these comps is to just brew my brews through the year and take 3 bottles of anything that turns out really good. It's annoying to lose the fee though isn't it BN?
I'll be more prepared next time. Another lesson learned!
I think this is spot on. This is the first competition I have ever entered and I went for the "put a specific brew on for it" approach. I won't do that again.I actually thin what I need to do for these comps is to just brew my brews through the year and take 3 bottles of anything that turns out really good.
It doesnt excuse the flaws in my lager, but I think seeing a comp and brewing specifically for it is a mugs game. Leaves no room for error. Organised me would have something to sub in, but normal me has that guy locked in a room with a plastic bag on his head.
