morning chaps, does anyone know what would happen using a lager yeast but a wheat beer recipie ? as its cold where i ferment (between 11 and 15 degrees) i reckon it will be too cold for the wheat yeast but perfect for a lager yeast. i think i will miss the flavour provided by the wheat yeast but id still be interested to try, unless someone else has done this and it was a waste of time. cheers guys for any help

i think ill definately do it. tried the hefeweizen from the west brewary in glasgow and it was delicious but i dont wanna wait till its warmer to try and make one

It will be fine if you do that, it might taste a little different than you are expecting but I wouldnt worry about it

The point of lager yeast/ lagering process it to get a clean crisp beer with no esters. If you lager a wheat beer that's exactly what will happen - a clean crisp wheat beer with none of the flavourful esters you often associate with wheat beer .
I'm having a crack at lagering a porter at the weekend
