Is Co2 injection neccessary?

I used to do Co2 welding, (until everyone changed over to Argon/Co2 mix), and you HAD to have an electric heater on the valve, or it would freeze solid. ......I wonder if Argon/Co2 mix would work with brewing?..........:hmm:

Any inert gas will do...but Id stick with carbon dioxide or nitrogen

Hi all
Im hoping theres still at least one from this thread who can give me peace of mind

I added a shot of co2 tonight on a keg with a third of the beer left.
It was bothering me that i still had just a bog standard cap on it since i racked it over a month half ago.
On twisting the bulb in i got a hiss and a small dose of gas escape. I paused temporarily during this period, the continued to twist on.

Being the first time of adding one of these bad boys, have i mucked up by not being more swift in my action allowing all the gas into the kitchen rather than the keg?

If this sounds like i have im happy to do the deed again asap

Always screw it on as quickly as possible especially when you get to the point of resistance when the pin is going to pierce the capsule.

I noticed in another thread someone uses some card or tissue inbetween the holder and the bulb to give it a bit more pressure but ill see how i get on first without this aid.
I ended up finishing the beer the same evening but i cant have done it right as when i opened the cap there was next to no co2 escaping

Ok im seeing someones put twist quickly i guess it depends on if u begun to twist at the very first piercing.
Im gonna see how this newish batch does withoit the co2. Its been leaking from the tap washer for a while now. Bit annoying as it was a new washer.
Always learning something new with homebrewing.
