I've been busy fitting some 15mm ball valves to My latest project.

The gap between the inner and outer skins on the TB seems to be

25mm on both the 50L and 80L versions.

I did not need to use the flanged nut at all.

Hole on inner skin is made with a 22mm holesaw.

Hole on outer skin is made with a 25mm holesaw.

The tank connector has to be shortened by around 12mm.

The brass coupler slightly protrudes from the outer skin, this gives

the whole assembly some sideways support and looks pretty tidy if I say

so Myself.

Just a smear of silicone grease to stop any leaking along the threads and

the jobs a goodun!

The same valve setup can be used on the 100L boiler also.

Having ordered ordinary stainless stock pots for all the vessels I wonder if I should have gone for a Thermobox one for the mash tun? I suppose I could relegate one of the stainless pots to fermentation duties?!

Just shipped brewery #8 out to who I hope will be a happy customer.

Putting finishing touches to #9.

#10 should be finished around the end of the month.

#11 should be fun as it's going to a British Guy in the south of france who plans to sell

bottled English style beer locally.

#12 well we'll see what Santa brings Me :-)

Hmm, very interesting and well documented.
I am currently looking at a Ali 50L stockpot and I had been wondering what connectors :? to use. Although I am wondering if brass and ali are good bedfellows.

I'm finally going to do this and am off to Wickes this evening to buy hole saws and tank connectors and ball valves. I'm not that confident, but fingers crossed...

Good luck fivetide - it's something i've been very wary of when thinking of buying some stainless gear.

I bought a 22mm and 25mm holesaw and lots of pipe bits and pieces, but I couldn't find all the right fittings, so will try and find a decent plumbing supply company online and order up some stainless parts I guess.

Once fitted, what are the options for attaching a 15mm copper pipe grain filter wotsit to the back of the tank connecter? Without solder or anything, I mean.

Vossy uses JB weld for some connections and seems quite happy with it.

You would need to ensure that when withdrawing the tank connector from the inside that the filter does not prevent this being done. Maybe using a short piece of 1/2" pvc tubing to connect the filter to the 15mm copper pipe that is JB welded into the back of the tank connector. Some tank connectors need drilling out to 15mm as they are about 14mm or less.

The tank connectors I buy do allow the 15mm pipe to be inserted without drilling them out.

Thanks for that. I'm out of grain these days so no immediate hurry, but i'm looking forward to some brewfacturing!

I'm nearly there, but can't find those female/female couplers anywhere! Maybe I'm just missing them in screwfix etc... ...but can't find 'em

Well on my way now! Got the missing piece using the magic word 'socket' - thanks BZ.

Cut the holes with little drama, Dremel working like a dream and coming in handy all over the place - great tip there!

Full story soon...
