For making beer, how is my water?
I think it's too soft.

Calcium 25.7875 mg Ca/l
Magnesium 2.3538 mg Mg/l
Residual chlorine - free 0.16 mg/l Cl2
Residual chlorine - total 0.24 mg/l Cl2
pH 7.91

I generally treat the water with Campden tablet before brewing (but forgot with my latest batch!).
I took a look at the calculator on this site but didn't really have all the information.

I only make kit and extract brews.
Would some calcium salts make my beer better?
Any recommendations?

the calcium in my water which is soft is 5.6 magnesiem is 6.24

Target for calcium for pale brews 180 to 220
magnesium is 0 to 50

my ph is 6
you need quite a bit more info if you are looking to treat your water you cn do a salifert test http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=19263&p=187480&hilit=salifert#p187480
or if your water supply is consistent murphys homebrew can test your water costs about a tenner but is worth it

another thing soft water is better its easier to add than take away

If you are only doing kits and extract I'm not sure your water matters too much.

Whats in your water is important for mashing the grain, but as you are not doing that step I doubt you have to worry too much.

Um, well, having done a bit more reading it seems that I am doing partial mash brewing...

The data I got is from the YW website, although they do have the full report on there I didn't want to dump the whole table in here.

So I should add some gypsum salts then maybe?

I had to push then to get my alkalinity level, but they came good eventually.
