How to get rid of the homebrew taste?

Like most people, I started with kits. They were ok but I could always taste the twang, unless it was heavily dry hopped. The twang went as soon as I did my first AG.
Just before Christmas I did my first kit for two years, a MJ Irish Stout using 1.2kg MJ enhancer. I wondered now I had a lot more brewing experience if I could make a kit without the twang. Nope, still there.
That’s was why I got into extract and then AG brewing. The only kit I do now is The Range Stout occasionally.
 
Hi all master brewers, I use LME & DME with hops yeast, Pure brew, water, finngs and rack off to a secondary fermenter for about a week to racking into my 5 litre party kegs then allowed the Ale to mature for a least 6 weeks which seem to remove all ' homebrew' tastes.

Drinking homebrewed ,turbo cider about 8 months old which is delicious dry and crystal clear.

Hi , yes a few tips for you , first don't use sugar (unless priming) in your brews , that will be the main reason why it tastes that way , using more expensive kits are best as no sugar needed . Watch out for old kits , liquid extract is great unless it is old , fresher the better. Temperature control is very important keep it constant and between 18 to 22c , too warm will risk off flavours . But if you want to improve i would chuck kits away and go for extract brewing , dried malt extract , good yeast , hops of your choice and profile of your making will make better beer .

If I recall correctly, @pittsy styled himself as the "Wheat Chief" and his signature read "If it has wheat in it, I'll brew it. If it hasn't, it should have".
What he says is of course very good advice and for sure, wheat beers have a place. Easy drinking, lightly bittered, fast to condition and with an added 2.5kg of raspberries per full length brew, a summer delight!
 
Some cracking advice on here on how to get rid of the home brew twang, had my share of it over the years I can tell you, I have chucked loads of pints down the drain mostly when I look back due to cutting corners on the basics.
These days I do not rush to either brew or bottle / keg my brews. and keep a lid on the fermenter keeping oxygen out at all cost. avoid splashing when bottling / kegging. sanitise/ sanitise/ sanitise . I also use a temperature control in my fermenter fridge with some smashing results
