Has anyone used a Plastic Sprayer Bottle as a PB?

Sawing the handle off to get it to fit in the fridge was a stroke of genius as SWMBO asked how I was going to pump it up without a handle. i.e. If I can't pump it up she won't be using it "accidentally" with weedkiller! :thumb:

I've looked at getting a Corny Keg set-up and if I was starting off from scratch again I would definitely go for it. However, I'm too far along the road with plastic to beg and grovel for one because I know the inevitable question "Why did you buy all that gear then?" will be asked before the refusal comes!

I wish you well but I have to ask "What did you have to promise on bended knee to get approval?" and BTW, asking for and getting approval when SWMBO is asleep, watching a soap on TV or bragging to a friend how loving she is doesn't count as it can be retracted in a flash!

My only regret is that my Dad told me all these things well before I got married and I still fell into the trap ... :wave:

One reason for NOT going for a Corny Keg system is that the smaller sizes are almost as expensive as the big ones and I like the flexibility of my current set-up.

Also, check out the photo above of the CO2 connected set-up.

I love optimism, so please let us know when you get your full Corny Keg setup complete with kegs, CO2 bottle, regulator, pipes, pumps, "Keezer" and other associated bits of kit: or the divorce, whichever comes first!

I saw Hozelock pressure sprayers, 7 litre, for £25.
Although the price is not good when compared to Wilko, the outlet for the spray lance is near the base, rather than on the top.
This looked very interesting.

Bought a 8l from screwfix for 6.99 today, non in stock so picking up tomorrow. Hoping this might be the short term solution to the space issue in the garage.

I thought I would give an update on my 8 litre Wilco Spray bottle.

It worked just fine! :thumb:

I think I probably transferred the Belgian Pale Ale into it a bit early and with it being moved to France and warming up a bit, there was a little more fermentation to be had.

This wasn't a problem because it has a Pressure Relief Valve that lets off any excess pressure and I managed to completely empty the Spray Bottle without having to resort to using the air pump to maintain delivery pressure!

All in all it was a great success, but one which I won't repeat due to the sudden generosity of SWMBO! :thumb:

My only worry now is working out why SWMBO is feeling so guilty that I have been given the okay to purchase 2 x 10 litre SS Growlers, a CO2 pressurisation system and a Delivery Tap; especially after she complained about me purchasing the Spray Bottle from Wilco at about a 25th of the price!

It's enough to drive a man to drink! Luckily!

I heartily endorse all manner of diy tomfoolery from a purely ideological standpoint, but I should point out that the Homebrew company will deliver you corny kegs at the moment for under 40 a pop... and then you can feed delicious healthy beer to your five year old nephew without worrying that he grows lady parts and gets immediate cancer in them...

that said the sprayer option means you can easily administer life saving beer to any fallen comrades.

rad. I do actually think it would be a nice idea for small batch English ale, but scaling up wouldn't be worth fitting co2 posts etc to, plus everything is going to taste of plastic.
I'm very sensitive to plastic though, gone through there types of beer line before I found one that didn't taste of gak.
leave some water in one for a day or so and taste it. my guess is it won't be good.

The plastic in most PB's and Spray Bottles are "food grade" plastic. (Logic says that they have to be fairly impervious to chemicals to stay in one pieee when being used for spraying chemicals.)

With regard to "taste" I'm afraid that my taste-buds have been well ruined by a lifetime of smoking, drinking and eating curries so I have to rely on the labels nowadays.

THere's a photo somewhere on this Thread that shows a whole raft of Spray Bottles linked up to a CO2 system similar to a Corby Keg system. It gives massive flexibility at a tiny cost when compared to CK's; it just isn't for me. :thumb:
