Evanvine - That small oast looks awesome a really good bit of DIY, what sort of cost was it to build I am looking to do something like it, what quantity of hops will it dry in one go??

After my test 12 hop plants are doing really well in yorkshire I have started building my 16ft high traditional trellis, I have my telegraph poles in and am hoping to plant 70 - 150 plants ready for next season fingers crossed! My first year plants are about 10ft at the moment how are everyone else's plants doing in this wet weather??

I think the 8x4 sheet of ply was around £30, but didn't use half of it for the oast.
The most hops I've had in it so far was 972gms (green) and they looked lost.
The dimentions for each bin are 600x450x150mm.
The top has 25mm holes, the mesh was 6mm from wicks 900x600 sheet and the ply was 12mm.

Hi Guys
I have several hop plants that have had the growing ends broken off and that has caused them to grow lots of side shoots
should i be cutting these off or training them up with the main plant?
Thanks

Hey timstaley, let the shoots grow don't chop them off, i had the same happen with a couple of mine ,What hops are you growing??

Thanks for the reply I will just leave them
I am growing 2 cascades 1 earlybird 1 cobb and 2 primadonnas
Cheers
Tim

I found that a couple of the low side shoots had put down roots (they were trailing on the ground)-so I seem to have grown a couple of new plants. Any advice for taking care of them? So far I have pinched the tops out & kept them fed.

Anyone much good at ID ing hops. I've got two small vines, one is Fuggles the other is Challenger. Problem is I forgot which is which? Help!
