I look at it the same as not chucking litter on the ground.

It’s easier for me to do, and it won’t end the world if I did.

But I’d also like to think I’m not leaving s*** everywhere for someone else to clear up.

They accelerate as quicky backwards hence the cracked bumber in my new Eletre as I scooted out of the drive and hot the lamppost in the middle of the road. First prang in 30 years. Love the car but it's too heavy for my Waitrose car park.. LOL Electric Mini Cooper coming next month which will be easier around town. I love ICE cars but some electrics are fantastic fun.

It has a few foibles and not having heated rear seats in a £105k car is ridiculous. Needs a rear wiper too, I've had to coat rear screen so I can see out in rain. But vert comfortable and very fast. And only £610 a month!

It was 9 months up front, 36 months, 5k mileage. Contract hire. Was only available for a few weeks. Lotus were desperate to get some cars on the road. It doesn't cover the interest on £105k let alone depreciation.

Really?
Now go see how much a £25grand loan is over 5 years, for a moderately specc'd 3 year old family saloon or small SUV crossover.
Add a hundred per month on the repayment and you have a 100k brand new luxury car on lease.

Tell me which is better
OK if the mileage limitations work for you, 5k (14 miles a day) wouldn't work for me.

When I looked at leasing the costs ballooned quickly when you look at 15-20k miles a year, was near a grand for a car half the price of the Lotus.

Bought instead, if I keep it for 10 years it'll be almost paid for with 40ppm work milage, would have cost me £120k leasing over the same period. It might have a small resale/tradein value too and I can scratch it and stain the seats all I want.

Would have preferred the Lotus of course 😁

Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced at the end of October that drivers of new petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles would be hit with higher first-year tax rates. The move aims to incentivise consumers to opt for electric vehicles and widen the gap between 'higher polluting' vehicles and EVs

The first-year tax figure is determined based on the amount of carbon dioxide the vehicle emits.

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers currently enjoy no Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) costs, but things are about to change. From April, EV owners will have to fork out a modest £10 for their first year's VED, a recently frozen rate.

Owners of petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicles, meanwhile, are preparing for a dramatic increase with rates expected to double. A Treasury spokesperson told Car Dealer Magazine that conventional cars' VED rates might just double come 2025.

For instance, if you're eyeing up a new Ford Puma, by April 2025, you could be shelling out £440 in the first-year VED instead of today's £220. Luxury vehicle enthusiasts looking at options like a Range Rover will face a drastic jump from a £2,745 fee right up to a staggering £5,490.

Researchers at Fudan University have developed a breakthrough method to extend lithium-ion battery lifespan, potentially revolutionizing energy storage. Their study, published in Nature, explores how replenishing lost lithium can significantly delay battery degradation.
Traditional lithium-ion batteries lose efficiency as “dead lithium” accumulates over time. By treating battery degradation like a disease, scientists designed a carrier molecule to restore lost lithium without disrupting the battery’s function.
This innovative technique increased battery lifespan from 1,500 to 12,000 cycles, reducing waste and enhancing sustainability. The discovery could reshape energy storage for electric vehicles and renewable power systems, making them more efficient and environmentally friendly.
