Hey everyone,

My name is Wouter, and I´m from the Netherlands. Specifically, from The Hague.

I´ve been brewing for about 2 years now. I always brew full grain. My set up consists of a mashing kettle of 70 liters and a boiling kettle of equal size. Up until now I´ve been mashing in a cooler with a build in filter. Last week I acquired the second 70L kettle and thus I am currently constructing (or buying depending on the time) an external filter for this (I'm not entirely on names of filter systems?).
Generally I make all sorts of styles of beers and I never rack anything to a secondary fermenter!

The reason I have also registered for this forum is for two reasons. One, more things to read! Just the Dutch Home Brew forum is not enough. And two, because I am staying in the UK for 6 months next year for work.

I hope to learn a lot on this forum!

Cheers!

Welcome Wouter

I work for a company merged with a company in the Netherlands so they are often over and I have been there twice (Ijjsselstien)

Pretty big batches you do there!!

Thanks guys!

I am staying in Oxford, study related internship. So I am already busy with filing my bankruptcy papers. But more seriously, I was actually thinking of bringing a small brewing set over; since I also have an electric 27L kettle (sparge tun) and a BIAB.

Ah nice! I hope you have the time to do some site seeing when your over? Utrecht is near and is a beautiful town.

I guess the batch size might be cultural? I would say its pretty common within the Dutch home brew community. Atleast for the one's who actively post on our forums.
But I must admit that more often than not I brew a smaller batch, around 25L. But I really like having the flexibility. You can easily brew 25L in a 70L kettle, but the reverse is challenging.
