If nothing else, in that period I learned what hypocrisy Christianity is. C
Typical, isn't it, that Jesus spent his (documented) life railing against hypocrites and finally got nailed up for not shutting his gob. Gave birth to a new major religion, which is full of the most mealy-mouthed hypocrites you could ever even imagine.
He'd be rolling in his grave if he hadn't rolled out of it.

I didn't get "The starter for most other religions" bit.

And yes, we did both: we were under-aged and broke.

You're right.
The "starter" bit was sort of as in "Your starter for 10" which Bamber Gascoine used to say, in this case meaning that after learning the hypocrisy of Christianity I subsequently learned pretty much the same about most other religions, certainly about all the deistic religions I've investigated. Sadly, it seems that if a religion (in the widest sense) is non-deistic and non-hypocritical it is also condemned to remain small and relatively insignificant on the world stage.
Do you get the feeling we're doing something wrong somewhere? Maybe the human race needs to start again and work on less ambitious self-development projects.

Yes underage, but I could have passed for 18 easily from age 14, so the landlord could be forgiven. He was stunned when there was a close-harmony rendition of "Happy Birthday" on my 18th!
I went on to sing as an adult both at Coventry, St Albans and then Liverpool before falling out with the Church of England. I have since been dragged into the Eastern Orthodox Church and couldn't be happier for it.

I do.

You started with "sadly". A religion is what holds your world view together, whether it be massive wealth, Tottenham Hotspurs, or a stake in something supernatural.
Best it remains small. All big religions have been taken over to manipulate the people through their superstition. Love nature. Fight for things that are good and wholesome. That's my religion.

You're a bloody hippy twonk An Ankoù. Get a grip and drink more beer.

Hand pulled Tetley's in Leeds through a sprinkler. The overflow bin had a pipe straight back downstairs into the tap room mild barrel!

Back when i was a teenager we mostly drank in our local yacht club, Ben truman on draught wasnt bad & Watneys red barrel plus some horrible stuff called Starlight that was so weak today it would probably qualify as non alcoholic.

Back in the sixties, at the tender age of 15, I started drinking in the Yacht Public House. the drink of choice for me & my mates was JC and bitter. JC was an IPA (Courages advertising said when asking for IPA "Just ask for a JC"). I can't recall the exact price but I do know we could get quite pi**ed for under 10/- or 50p in new fangled money.
