Yeah, that's standard. If you could pop the end off, then tip out a few and get it to read 1.000 in water with the end on, and then glue the end on you'd be back in business.sounds like a maraca like its filled with little grains if thats any use?
Throw the other one away- it's dangerous, you're going to need to know your FG before bottling
It's like trying to repair the barbecue thermometer you use to see if your chicken is cooked. Don't do it!
I can't understand why anyone would even consider trying to mend a faulty one given how much a new one costs, and how important they are to what we all do.
