Made a Doppelbock over the weekend, went ok but I have definitely found the limit of my mash tun, which then impacted efficiency but (luckily?) I also messed up my liquor measuring so I have 18L in the fermenter at the correct gravity where I was expecting 20. looking like a decent brew though, so not all bad.

Think I'll convert the current mash tun to a HLT and get a bigger one for the mash. Then I'll get my other pump set up and have a proper 3 vessel HERMS on the go and finally eliminate the need for buckets.

Bit of a user upper today, an English IPA.
Original plan was to bitter with Admiral but after a fruitless rummage through the freezer I went with Magnum instead, then all Challenger.

Chilling now and Verdant to pitch in the morning.

Looks like wind will stop play today. Maybe can start later but not very keen on a late start in the winter.

Have keg hopped the last brew which is a first for me, was disappointing and seems like I under hopped it on brew day.

Headed for Manchester for work tomorrow where they seem to have better weather?

Well....FINALLY got my ar5e into gear!
Yesterday was spent cleaning and organising the kit and checking supplies. A nip to Chester Homebrew was required as I was dangerously low on sanitiser and had to clear out some out of date yeasts I didn't want to faff about with.
Otherwise I was well stocked on the hops I need, chems and malt. As for the malt...I had the hindsight to bag all the base malts in 2kg bags, everything labelled, and store in MM boxes in the cupboard under the stairs.
Strike water on for my ever faithful Tribute clone.
Cooooome Oooon!
