Hi everyone!
I've just been completing my second brew. It was a Brewferm Kriek (cherry beer). Anyway, I think I messed up...5 times! Tell me your thoughts!
Firstly when I went away so it was sat in the primary fermenter for 12 days.
Secondly I transferred it to a secondary fermenter, but was going away again so I left it for 5 days instead of adding sugar there and then and bottling it up.
Thirdly, not only that but i put beer finings into it - which i since read can mess the secondary fermentation up.
Fourth, when I siphoned it out a load went into my mouth which shocked me and it ended up then spilling from my mouth into the fermenter. (i know! Pretty disgusting!)
And finally, when I put the required amount of sugar in today before bottling it (100g) I was concerned that I'd not put enough in so put a half teaspoon in each bottle when i bottled it.

Soooo! What are my chances of ruining my beer?!?!?!!?!!!!

1st & 2nd; you'll be fine

3rd; not sure about the finings (never used them myself), which may have dropped the yeast out, you might have to leave it longer to condition

4th; try to swallow next time

5th; assuming a 23L brew length, might be a bit fizzy, depending on your preference and above, but shouldn't have created bottle bombs. Leave at room temperature for say 4-7 days then transfer to somewhere cooler to condition.

I'm sure your beer will be fine.

Can't see anything wrong with that, you might be unlucky with spitting it out into the secondary?

concerned with why you wanted to add half a tsp per bottle though as you'd already worked out the correct amount to batch prime yes?...never done a cherry beer.

What did you bottle with Glass or PET?

Bugger! It was only a 10 or 12 litre kit (can't remember which)
Have I actually created dangerous beer?!
They're glass beer bottles zipped up in a suitcase with a blanket on top so if they do blow, the mess will be throw away! Is there any danger though?
Not really sure what I was thinking putting extra sugar in tbh...just didn't want flat beer, but now I'm worried!

you should be fine, the finings part wont be that much of a bloomer, usually u add it a day or two before bottling. Ive done the syphoning/spitting back into FV before by mistake and my beer was fine, aslong as you don't have toxic badger breath!

had a wee laugh to myself while reading through the posts there - the topic starter is called 'hefty porker', and a guy called 'Good Ed' advised him to swallow instead of spitting next time. so the moral is for Good Ed, you must swallow instead of spitting from a hefty porker!

haha! :D
Thanks for your replies!
I can start looking fwd to drinking it now!
Ps - i don't think i have toxic badger breath....but you never know!

thanks again!
