Bottle Rinser Steriliser?

I have recently purchased a bottle rinser and bottle rack, and wanted to know whats the best steriliser to use? I was thinking VWP though that means having to rinse them out again after?
Anyone know of anything you can that doesn't need to be rinsed out after? Or any helpful tips.

Use videne or peracetic acid diluted suitably for a no-rinse santiser.
Do a quick site search, there is plenty of information on here about use and dosage rates.

Videne, Star San (both foaming - do not fear the foam), or peracetic acid (Worcester Hop Shop) are all no rinse. Peracetic acid is a 'handle very carefully' option though.

Steribev (stabilised hypochlorus acid) is also a really good option . . . just finding it is the trick. :whistle:

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a look for some Videne. Now have the rinser and bottle tree I can't believe I haven't purchased it before!

I ended up ordering some Star San for my rinser. They did also suggest chempiro OXI. Which was a lot cheaper in a 1kg container. Anyone used this before?

vidane is availbile from any chemist
nice and easy to use 1.25ml per lrt of water no rinse

I am sure its 1.25 aleman will tel you if I am wrong
as I do 2.5 per 2ltr milk carton and have had no probs and still alive

All good advice, though Steribev is a new (and interesting) one on me...

Just to mention that most of these are at their best as sanitisers/sterilizers (or whatever your teminology permits) rather than combined cleaner/sanitisers (as VWP and the oxi stuff are). They're wonderful if the bottles are clean, but there may be better products to use beforehand if you also need to shift crudd off them.

My Star San has turned up now. (thanks for recommending this to me) what measurements do people use to dilute this?

First time using this stuff and don't fancy making myself ill :sick:

I'll be adding it to my bottle rinser & water sprayer.

Ive been using baby bottle steriliser liquid from Tescos. No problems yet, but am i dicing with death?! :shock:

Has anyone had any bad experiences using this (i'm presuming) cheaper option?

we used milton fluid for a while its fine. Maybe best though to get some no rinse stuff :thumb:

It is a bit of a pain having to rinse everything off all the time, i'm sure my next water bill will have me looking for an alternative!

If using distilled/deionised/ low alkalinity water (like Asda Smartprice or Tesco Ashbeck) it is 3.1ml per 2L . . . Asda Smartprice and Tesco Ashbeck is sold in 2L bottles :whistle: :whistle:

If using tap water, and it has a lot of carbonate you will find it goes cloudy . . .you cannot be certain of its effectiveness if it is cloudy.

I don't boil it, the star san does the trick - and it is no rinse so you don't need to rinse the bottles, just let them drain.

On the foam point, I don't fear it, but I do generate quite large amounts in (and then overflowing from) the bottle rinser thing sterilising a batch of bottles.

Ive been using star San for a while now. It's fantastic stuff.
Watched craigtube on YouTube and he tested it after it had gone cloudy and it made no difference. The ph levels were the same. :thumb:

How do you measure 1.25 ml? did you have to buy a special syringe or? :wha:

I'm confused.......what's wrong with using VWP to do all the bottles and then use clean water in the rinser to give them a quick rinse? I used VMP on my demi for my first TC and having to rinse it didn't seem a massive problem. Or is there some sort of health reason you shouldn't use it? :hmm:
