Ive been using star San for a while now. It's fantastic stuff.
Watched craigtube on YouTube and he tested it after it had gone cloudy and it made no difference. The ph levels were the same. :thumb:
Might be, but Five Star say the effectiveness is reduced when it has gone cloudy . . .and their tests are a little more stringent that Craigs

What's wrong with using VWP to do all the bottles and then use clean water in the rinser to give them a quick rinse?
The problem is that the rinse 'water' becomes contaminated with vwp to the point whereby you will have residual chlorine present that will react with the hop compounds to form trichlorophenols . . . the taste threshold for tcps are in the part per billion range so you don't need a lot of chlorine left behind to get a lovely medicinal note to your beer.

There is also the question of defining 'clean' water, There is an article in an issue of Brewers Contact where plates were cultured from tap water, hosepipe water and RO water (from a domestic system) . . .none of the plates were culture free  Hence the reason for using a no rinse disinfectant.

I am looking at getting a bottle draining tree with a rinsing attachment, and looking to use it with some Star San non-rinse solution.

Can anyone tell me how you use the the star san with the rinser or should I just use a spray bottle with mixture and let the bottles drain?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers
Pat

I make up a 2 l batch and I tip it straight into to bottle rinser that sits on top of the tree. I do have some in a spray bottle to spray the tree and work tips before I start. :thumb:

I hope this Videne is as good as you all say it is, I have just been quoted 9-10 from my local sainsburys and tesco

1.25ml is easy to measure as its 1.25grams when weighed just make it up to the amount you can saftly measure and dilute to that

so if you can only measure whole grams do it 5grams to 5lts of water

or else get a syringe from the chemist , you dont need a needle so tell them why you want it and you wont get funy looks
