Hi, Anyone brewed the Beerworks Bohemian blonde Pils, classic German pilsner? I brew with grain and it's been years since I brewed an extract kit but I have acquired one of these kits. My question is that it comes with what it says is a premium lager yeast but doesn't say what yeast strain it is. It states to ferment at 20-25C whch makes me think it's not a lager yeast at all let alone a premium one.
So - Anyone that has brewed this kit, would you use the yeast as stated @ 20C, use the yeast but at lager temps ie 14C or replace the yeast altogether?
I am not bothered about it being true to style and I brew all types of beer, my preference being ales so the yeasts I have available are 1- Diamond lager.
2- US-05.
3- S-04
4- Nottingham
Thank you

Never heard of it. Sounds iffy to me. Bohemia isnt part of Germany, its historically part of Moravia and more recently corresponds to Czechoslovakia.
Wouldn't have to much confidence in the rest of their claims.
But brew it up. It might be lovely.

I have, waiting for their reply but I wanted to ask people who had actually brewed this their opinions on what they would do again if they rebrewed it.
I have always found them very helpful. They are very knowledgeable about their own products. I too usually do all grain but was gifted a couple of kits ( not the one you have ) and I was pleasantly surprised with the results

Had a reply this morning, not very forthcoming though. They just say that it's a lager yeast that can be fermented at 20-25C. Not exactly helpful.

If they say it is a lager yeast that CAN ferment at 20-25 c it should ferment at lager temps, and this would be best. The only reason I can see why this might be a problem is because fermenting cooler requires more yeast, so depends a bit on how much they give you.

It would be great if the companies were just a bit more straightforward with their instructions. Apparently Muntons connoisseurs lager kits provide a lager yeast that can be fermented at lager temps, but the instructions only tell you to ferment at ale temps.

Personally I would not ferment an ale above 20c (ideally I would want to keep it a bit below this), let alone a lager, but that's another matter.

If you can ferment cold and you want to make a lager then use a genuine lager yeast.
Sounds like that supplied could be something like MJ54 California lager yeast, but you'd be making a pseudo lager - nothing wrong with that mind I've made
plenty of those myself but not comparable to a lovely crisp Pilsener.
