I made beer baps last year - and damned fine they were too... :thumb:

Sounds interesting, how did you make it?

1 1/2 tsp dried yeast
500g strong white bread flour
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
320 ml beer

put 'em in mixer that order and knead, now proving in oven on proving setting (smartass oven MrtsC has)

will bake this afternoon, preheated oven 200 deg for 20-25 mins :thumb:

I think I remember muddydisco making rolls with White Shield yeast :wha:

I never tried it, but then rarely kept yeast when I was making bread...

Its turned out really good, really nice texture, looks like another will be on again in a few days :thumb:

I am about to brew a nelson's revenge kit...could I (after fermentation of course) use the left over stuff and bung in the rest of the ingredients as a bove to make bread? or is that just too insane?

Oooop North here, particularly round Lancashire, you get Barmcakes :thumb: soft white bread rolls ;)

But how did the barmcake get its name, well Barm is the foam, formed on the top of fermenting alcoholic beverages such as beer, this was used in the baking process instead of yeast, another simple no waste no nonsense Lancashire idea

Thankyou for that Barry I will go and stun my friends with that knowledge.

You do get funny looks down south when you go to a chippy and ask for a chip barm

Mind you you get funny looks when you ask for chips and gravy.

Yea i get the same if I ask for a chip cob anywhere out of the east midlands(Adopted Sheffield only just about gets it, to this yorkshire lot its a breadcake). The thing that always confuses me is what happens for the people who call them rolls. Do you go in a cafe and ask for a "sausage roll" and just see what you get?

Fresh out of the breadmaker this time, just brought out a plain white sandwich bake beer bread :thumb:

Looks and smells a treat, made a basic 'cob' last time baked in the oven, going to see the difference later

I rather like experimenting like this you never know whats going to happen, so far the results are good

only problem is they don't last very long being so tasty

I once made bread by adding a few handfuls of spent grain. Lots of roughage in that bread....

Hmmm was going to have a brewday today, but plan 'b', probably brew saturday and will keep some grain aside for a loaf, might throw a bit of wholegrain mustard as well :thumb:
