Another Update........... (hope I'm not boring ya) ;)

Sorted out the HERMS copper coil. (I can see now why most put the element in the centre with how awkward is was with the copper.

Decided to use a standard tank connector that I cut down and made the hole slightly larger to accommodate a 15mm elbow.

I slitted the flange slightly to encourage more drain off.

There's less room to play with on the undercarriage than I thought

The drain is now complete, need to sort out some insulation and replace the cover.

Going back in the shed now to do some more, need to connect the HERMS today 18/09/10 :D

To be continued...................

Here We Go Again................... more porn :D

Made a start on the pipework... I know copper will loose more heat than silicone tube but I personally think it looks more like a brewery with plenty of copper.... (wonder if I'll get copper poisoning) :hmm:

I connected the pump like Unclepumble did his... By having the valve between flow and return, it works great, you can really control the flow without pressurising the pump.....Thanks' Uncle.P :thumb: :thumb:

I've also connected my HLT to the pump system for sparging, going to let it run through the HERMS set at 75c

Glad to be of service. :thumb:

This build is looking very good, I like copper too stick plenty of lagging around it and you won't have any issues.

All ready now for a trial run when family life allows ;)

Ooohhh. Carlsburg don't do Brewery Porn...but if they did it would be from Barnsley...Cold Shower required down here Barnsley Brewer. Well done.

Where did you get the pots and the false bottom?

Best thing john to keep that copper nice and shiny, is polish it, then spray plenty of clear lacquer on it.

Either that or get it on the mantle piece and tell the wife its a new range in doulton figures. ;)

The pots were from Nordic, the false bottom was a one off by a mate,397mm diameter spot bollock laser cut surgical steel, he said it was 300 and summat steel whatever that means :hmm: :hmm:

If you want to buy a false bottom "muddydisco" makes them at a reasonable price :thumb:

Its probably 316 John which is food contact grade SS

304 is food grade but not for contact surfaces

There are also other more exotic food grade Stainless steels including a mega expensive one that used for de-ionised water pumps in hospitals but that one is mucho £££££££ and very rare
