hi brewers

just a quick one is this big enough to do a 23 ltr biab

I want to be able to mash with the full volume of water so no need to sparge

Well I have yet to do one but I've been reading around the subject and it seems to me that (for a high ABV beer) you need to have space for about the following:-

23L wort
6L grain space (assuming up to 6kg of grain)
6L water absorbed into grain (Absorption ratio 1:1)
3L evaporation
1.5L loss to hops and trub

So just about OK I guess as you're not likely to go quite to 6kg of grain, worst case you top up with a litre or so in the fermenter.

Of course once the bag is removed you'll have about 12L of boil space.

As I say haven't done one myself but that's how I see it and no doubt if I'm wrong others will correct me.

all you would need to do is mash for an hour then empty liquid then refill and leave for 20 mins then empty liquid job done . i would say that is big enough

38 will be tight, you can liquer back after mashing or at the end or get a 60l pot at £80 thats a lot of pot for the dosh then do the bottom drain mod
