Just moved the lid on the FV to move to the barrel, and here we go again, 2nd on the trott that looks pear shaped. I've been brewing AG for a while now and never had a problem until the last brew got infected, and this one looks to have gone the same way...utterly gutted

Have you tasted it? If it is infected either get rid of the fermenter or give it a good going over with bleach followed by a good rinse and sanitise. I mistakenly filled an unwashed bottle once, it was a gusher but the 25mm of beer left in the bottle tasted great.

It's hard to tell from the photo whether that's the yeast beginning to colonise the surface or whether it's something horrible. How long since you pitched the yeast? What does it smell like- beery and yeasty, or not quite right? What yeast did you use and what's the ambient temperature?

Hi It's an AG Mild ale, I pitched the yeast ( CML Ale ) on the 9th April so as of yesterday only 19 days in the FV. The OG was 1.038 and I was aiming for about 1.009, but when I took a reading after about 10 day it was at 1.014 so I let it go a little longer. The ambient temp has been around 18-20c. The smell is OK, like beer, and I took a reading and it's down to 1.012, so not too far of the target of 3.4% which is fine for a mild. The taste was ok, although my brain was expecting to react to something nasty, all I tasted was a low ABV beer!! Odd one here. I think It's going into the barrel and see what happens.

That's what I would do, it might just be the yeast. I don't know CML real ale yeast. The rousing provided by transferring the beer might get you fg down another couple of points.
Then wash out your fermenter with bleach, inside and outside, and the handle and lid, just in case.

That looks like a cliump of yeast and healthy too to me. Don exactly as you have said and clean FVas per other posts my bet is it will be fine. Ps I have used CML real ale yeast and never had a problem although I now favour Wilko's yeast and it is my go to

If it’s tasting ok then it’s definitely worth putting in the barrel and seeing how it turns out.

That’s not a yeast I’ve used, could it just be a yeast raft?

I think it's unlikely to be yeast after 20 days.
I'd be tempted to scoop it out with a sterile jug, and keg it. Whats the worst that can happen.
Maybe give the keg a blast of CO2 to help keep things free from oxygen

Thanks for the tips folks. I normally only use starsan, for the spray and the HB sanitiser powder from the Range. but I'm off out to get some hardcore bleach type agent no and give everything a good scrub down, me includedathumb..
