    cooling fv

Hi Guys I've decided that my next batch of TC is going to be a still one. My aim for this batch, is to bottle it crystal clear and mature(ish) so there is no sediment, and so I can transport, and drink it on the same day. I use the waterbath + aquarium heater method for keeping temps stable...

    Turbo cider no.2

Racked the wine yesterday, will sweeten / top up tommorow. Had a sneaky taste of the cider today. Its already prety fizzy, and tastes fantastic even at this early stage. Pretty sharp and with one odd taste, but I think this is going to be a real top notch batch  As per my last tc, its...

    Turbo cider no.2

Cider is now bottled :) Started at about 8:30pm, and finished mopping the kitchen at 1:30am lol. I was a bit greedy when siphoning into the tub to bulk prime. I prime with apple juice, and lost next to nothing to the **** at the bottom, so I literally brimmed my 33l tub :S Thinking I was...

    Turbo cider no.2

topped up the cider with 4l of AJ today. That looks to be coming along nicely. The wine on the other hand is having a hard time. my cider has the luxary of a temperature controlled bath. The wine however, has been just chucked in the kitchen and left to do its own thing. The kitchen has...

    Turbo cider no.2

Just boiled up 19 (had to try one) sainsburys strawberry, raspberry and cranberry fruit tea bags. Damn my house is smelling good right now lol. Waiting for it to cool so I can get on with it. I'm going with 2l wgj 19 strawberry, raspberry and cranberry tea bags just under 1kg sugar 1/2 tsp...

    Turbo cider no.2

Opened the lid a crack last night for a little peak. Some froth on top, so all seams well :) Water bath bang on 19c, just need to forget about it for a bit, but its so hard :( Tempted to put on 5l of wine to keep me occupied. Only problem is... I don't like wine :S. But I didn't like real ale...

    Turbo cider no.2

It should be a ~35l batch, so just under a teaspoon a gallon :)

    Turbo cider no.2

Just put a turbo cider on. Decided to go with a more standard recipe this time, as while my last attempt was pretty good, it was a little rough around the edges lol. Chucked in; 25l Tesco 4 for 85p apple juice. 3.75l (ish) Princes cranberry juice. 7tsp pectolase. 7tsp yeast nutrient. 7tsp...

Tesco apple juice 85p for 4 litres

Tesco is quite far out of my way, so I was relunctant to go on a wild goose chase for some juice that may or may not be in stock. Today I was down that way so thought it pop in and have a look. Got to the juice isle, and sure enough, lots of 4 packs of juice priced at 85p. my jaw dropped, and...

    apple + mango cider?

I might just drop the mango idea tbh. I was wanting to do a fairly basic TC. Because my last (first) attempt was nice and all, but damn strong, so I just wanna play it safe for this one. I was tempted by the apple and mango, as its pretty much the only "other juice" I could find thats 100%...

    apple + mango cider?

I was suggesting half AJ+Mango and half AJ lol

    apple + mango cider?

hmmm u recon? That will give me around 500ml/ puree per gallon which I though sounded like quite a lot considering the rule of thumb is 500ml juice per gallon. But as I said, who knows what mango puree actually is lol. I guess it cant be that concentrated, as it hasnt bumped up the sugar...

    apple + mango cider?

Thoughts on this? Morison's savers apple juice and Morison's apple + mango juice? Apple and mango juice is; Apple Juice from Concentrate (90%), Mango Purée (10%) 10.8g sugar per 100ml Id rather the mango not be detectable. Just to help the flavour like the 500ml per gallon would. Its hard...

    Priming cider with AJ

Wanted to bump this to say that priming with the AJ was a massive success!!! The fizz is just right for me. Pretty damn fizzy, but I like that, and no gushing or disturbed yeast. Only problem is I cant quite remember if I used 2l or 3l of juice in the end.... grrrrrr EDIT - Its gotta be 3l I...

    Turbo Cider Questions :)

I thought I'd post an update on this. Its now had 2 weeks in the cold (was lazy and left it 3 weeks in the warm) Carbonation is still great. Still holds a head which is very strange but pretty cool. Taste wise I have no complaints. Its a very nice drink, not overly sharp at all now, and the...

    Turbo Cider Questions :)

Ok, so this is now @ 12 days in the warm. I needlessly worried myself by trying a bottle @ 5 days. It had a little "pffft" when I opened it, but absolutely no carbonation at all. I was deeply saddened as my last brew (beer) carbed up pretty much fully in this time, and the remaining time in the...

    Turbo Cider Questions :)

I know my freind, but if you recall my thread in the beer brewing discusion, I smashed 3 bottles (which went down the sink) and another 3 which had hairline cracks in them (which I couldnt risk carbanating, so I stuck them in the fridge to drink asap (such a hard life :))

    Turbo Cider Questions :)

An update on this I bottled this yesterday after two weeks in the secondary @14c (at least that's what it was yesterday) Due to bottling issues, I had 3 flat bottles to taste after a day in the fridge. Interestingly enough, Everything I listed as good points two weeks ago are now bad points...
