    Hoppy Copper

I started an Xmas brew with a can of this and a wilko stout to make a two can recipe yesterday. Added two cans of treacle, some cocoa and a small amount of cinnamon. Tasted great, bubbling away like mad now!

    Wilkinson Cerveza

Bought two of these on sale at £8 each, going to start one next week. My question is, what is the best way to maximise the flavour of these kits? Should I just use both together with no sugar at 40 pints (toucan?) or do one at a time possibly brewed short to 20 litres with some brew enhancer/...

Why does my beer taste like this?

What water are you using? My dad used to brew a lot from kits, I can remember similar tastes on some batches. I am on my fifth kit, brewed in 40 pint fv with airlock, just using wilko sanitiser/ cleaner with no probs thus far, in fact some excellent results. However I only ever use tesco spring...

    Milestone Dark galleon.

Drinking mine now! Brewed nicely since early October, very 'big' taste, perfect winter brew, possibly slightly too bitter for my taste but well worth it!

I used two cans of wilko light golden lager, made 500g candi syrup, made some haaz hop tea, boiled some orange peel and crushed coriander seeds, and used belgian saison yeast. A has...

    Aaargh king keg nighmare!

What a day! Drove 220 miles home, looking forward to transferring my first ever Wherry into a king keg. However I found out that the lid on the keg I was using was from an old rotokeg or similar, couldn't get it sealed, every time I gave it a shot of gas it leaked, possibly out of the exhaust...

    Quick turbo cider question

This was about 4 litres of mixed juices - both budget and cloudy, all longlife. One sachet wilko all purpose wine yeast, I boiled some honey and cloves, star anise and cinnamon in some juice at the start and put everything together when cool - 19 degrees It was 1050 on start. I will top up with...

    Quick turbo cider question

Making some turbo cider, started on Wednesday. Apple juice, black tea etc. All was going really well after 24 hours LOADS of bubble through airlock. However now very little. I have read on other posts people have shaken the demijohn to start fermentation again. Any ideas? This has sat at steady...

Bottled water in my airlock, is this massive error?

Thanks guys, put my mind at rest. Boiled, cooled, sterilised next time most prob next time, but the tap water option looked OK too.

Bottled water in my airlock, is this massive error?

Started first ever brew last Saturday, everything bubbling nicely in FV. However I was just looking at a turbo cider video where the guy said sterilised water for airlock. I just poured some from the Tesco spring water in having sterilised the airlock beforehand. Could this be a problem do you...

    First ever brew

Just read the newbie guidepost from Callum, learning lots every day! I was just going to check the sealing surfaces for smoothness and sand with 600 grit or similar if uneven from moulding sprues etc. However I take the point about scratches, thanks for the input. If they seal OK I will leave...
