Hi,

This is a bit of fun, but me and my consortium of brewers (housemates) would like to give ourselves a name. We all used to be regulars in a pub in Peterborough called Bogarts and think this would be a good name for the 'Brewery' as it means something to all of us.

We have the old sign from the pub that will be the logo / label. Strap line... "The problem with the world is that everyone is one drink behind"

So as newbies we are brewing kits, so in no way can we say that our beers are our own, but we like to have fun and give them names.

I thought if we did a pale ale.... Cassa'blanc'ale

Any other good ones... just for fun?

Doug

My elderberry stout at 8.5% is Elizium, Dead But Dreaming as it sends you into that comatosed world of the undead.

I felt a bit silly naming a kit brew, and have only done one AG so far. I am calling it Green Gurkha, because the bittering hops are Admiral, and my Grandad was on a ship called the Gurkha in WW2 (sort of works!) and another hop is Green Bullet... I liked the way it sounded, and I thought of a good label idea which I'm yet to make.

I originally wanted something funny/whitty, but turns out i'm not very creative :sulk:

I know what you mean. I name stuff like a muppet. Going to have to try though, the refractometer said my IPA is going to be something like 9% so 'American IPA v2.0' is not remotely adequate.

Perhaps 'American Faceplant IPA 2.woah' :)

This is not beer, but a Scrumpy I bought over 20 years ago from a farm in Somerset called Cripple Cock

I go from odd (Ypmurcs - the most backward scrumpy ever made) to geek (35th Prime - Double APA with 149 IBU...) to bloody obvious (Mandarina Bavaria Pale Ale).

we all know the best names have two meanings, so you can put rude jokes on the pump clips

Dirty Tackle was a personal favourite...

I label my bottles with little white discs so the beer receives the initials of what it is...for example worthington White Shield has WWS on it....... very original.....

however after a night of drinking in the baa...r most of what my friends ask for sound like that...." er fink I'll ave another wws....fgixk ! "

I'm not that imaginative with my naming, usually working from the ingredients with the occasional popular film influence.

My Calypso hopped pale ale is CalyPA... Think yippee ai aye as part of the pronunciation. That fact it comes in at 6% helps get the idea, well, after a couple of them it does :)

Labels can be very personal. I made this one for my mate who's favourite band is "Tangerine Dream" and who is recovering from a serious illness. (a pint of best bitter by the way)

I like the idea of anagrams and close-sounding clones, like music tribute acts do: 'Fake That', for example.

Just need to think of some for beers, now... :hmm:
