Plain malt extract in a brew

Hi folks, A pal of mine uses beer kits and stupidly used a can of unhopped plain malt extract instead of the can of ingredients he had purchased and didn't realise until after he'd added the yeast into his fermentation bucket. He doesn't really have facilities for extract brewing at home. Is...

    BIAB Bag material

I bought a few army laundry bags from ebay and took them to my local Zipyard outlet in Glasgow. They stitched two of them together with reinforced seams for only £5. Used it a few weeks back and had no problems. The seller on ebay is called arturbernarduk

FIRST AG BREW DAY BIAB #1 PICS

That is great - thanks for posting! I've been extract brewing for about 6 months and was going to stick to that for 2014 to get a better understanding of the different varieties of hops, specialty grains etc available. Not sure if this is a good plan any more, wonder if I should just get stuck...

    Secret Santa 2013

Cheers Duncs, I brewed USA5 - glad you liked it! :thumb: My review of USA3 - a great, copper coloured, strong beer. Excellent use of cascade, Columbus, simcoe and Amarillo hops. I've only used cascade out of those four - will defo buy the others in the future. Good head retention throughout...

Large rubber stopper needed - please help!

It's about the same size as my 5 galon fv. It's been sitting in a cow shed on the Scottish island of Coll for the past umpteen years so was probably used for milking in the past?

Large rubber stopper needed - please help!

Hi folks, I've inherited a large glass carboy with a 3 inch opening at the top. Trouble is, I can't seem to source a drilled stopper to fit that won't break the bank! Any suggestions? Would hate not to be able to use it. Neil

    Black Rock Nut Brown

Hi folks, Will be bottling Black Rock's Nut Brown Ale kit this weekend at some point. Used 1kg of dark spraymalt with the kit. Primary fermentation went off like a rocket, stalled, and then started again following a good stir. It's currently giving a reading of 1014 and has been in primary for...

    decisions decisions

Hey billy994, how did you get on with your Black Rock Nut Brown last year - I've one in the FV as I speak. After a vigorous couple of days fermenting, my yeast decided to have a wee break. Managed to get it going again last night!

    Hello!

Hi folks, I'm new on this forum. Been home brewing for about a year (from kits so far) and am loving every minute of it. Currently have a brown ale in the fermenter and slowly working my way through bottles of 8% belgian trippel and 4% Austrailian IPA. Nice! Neil
