    Ritchies Simply Range

Afternoon all. JUst popped in to my local home brew store to collect some supplies and they had a new range in called "Ritchies Simply". I would have liked to chat with the sales assistant as I normally do spend a few minutes chatting but as I was being naughty and visiting in work time I had...

How hard is a kit lager?

I have done many Coopers lager which can be done at "room" temperature and is nice although does not quite have the crispness that you get with lager. I have also done several coopers European lager which have been great. My method (as I dont have a fridge or other cooling method was to...

    sterilising solution which one ?

I also use Star San. I use 1.5ml for every 1L of water in a garden spray bottle. Never had any problems, so far much quicker/easier than sanitising and rinsing.

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Hello all Ive been drinking my Euro and the last few bottles have had a lot of sediment, yeasty slush in them. When brewing other Coopers cans the last one or two bottles have been like this but not to the same degree or number. I am wondering if the problem lies in my 'cold brewing technique'...

Is there anyway to rescue a flat brew?

For what it is worth I agree with the comments above, I store at room temperature for 2 weeks then put in shed. I think on my second or third brew I did a coopers canadian. I put it in the shed after bottling and it was very flat. I thought at the time that I had done something else like not...

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Today cracked open one of the Euros. Been in the bottle since 01/10/11 so 6 weeks. I am really please with the result. Much crisper than the Australian which I guess is due to the low temp and lager yeast. Thanks for all that helped

    Sanitizing Bottles

For what it's worth I started out with VWP. Used it on my first brew but I found that I had to rinse it several times to get rid of the smell. I found it to be a chore so switched to using star san and have not gone back.

    Coopers Lager again

I use 500ml bottles and coopers carbonation drops (for the convenience) 1 drop per bottle. Therefore you will need two if using drops which is about 1.5 teaspoons I think of table sugar. I am sure more knowledgeable people can tell you more. Edit: Just googled apparently 8g per litre is the...

Using StarSan with halfords deionised water.

I rinse my bottles three times in warm water after pouring the beer, then place top back on and store. When brewing I take the bottles rinse three times in warm water and allow to drain, I then use a spray gun filled with tap water and Star San using 1.5ml Star San and 1l of tap water, I then...

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Morning all I should be collecting a can of European Lager from my local home brew store today, based on the previous comments I think I shall use 1kg of brewing sugar only. I intend to submerge my FV into a large plastic container full of cold water and use bottle of frozen water to keep the...

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Good stuff. Well I have a coopers Australian that needs to be brewed but after that I shall buy some European from my local home brew store and give it a go. Any opinions on what fermentables to use with the European, I tend to use 750g of brewing sugar and 250g of light spray malt with my...

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Been thinking about creating a "swamp cooler" by placing the FV in a bigger bucket with water and bottles of ice. NOt sure if the wife will be happy with me taking up more room in the kitchen though!

    Coopers European at "room" temperature

Hello all I have been drewing coopers kits for 6/7 months now and enjoying it. I am wondering if anyone has brewed the Coopers European Lager without controlling the temperature? My kitchen is generally 18-20c, I appreciate that this brew should be fermented at lower temperatures but I am...

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

I found that when I started earlier in the year after a week mine had not finished fermenting, as I work in the week I just left it till the following weekend. Mine tastes fine.

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

I have done approcahing 15-20 kits now and only one has bubbled (presumably my lid is not air tight). The general consensus seems to be that when your hydrometer reading is stable near to 1.10 on three consecutive days then your beer is ready. I personally will normaly start a brew on a...

Getting planning to brew from home commercially

As a planning enforcment officer I thought I would throw my two pence in. A change of use application may be required if you have materially changed the use of the premises that you are operating from. I am assuming that you would be operating out of your garage or shed/outbuilding? In my...

    Moving on from Coopers kits

Hello Brewed the bavarian pilsner as per the recipe in the previous post. Reduced the amount of hops to 12g as I am using pellets and the advice is to use less when using pellets. I shall report back when tasting begins!
