Well, my first brew (Coopers Dark Ale) has been in the fermenter for a week now. I used a box of teh Brew Enhancer 2 instead of sugar.

The fermentation vigour has died down so i thought it take a reading last night.

I was getting 1.015 ish id say. (difficult to read with all the bubbles that were slowly lifting the hydrometer out the tube)

How does that sound?

I had to drink the 100ml or so that i used for the reading as i didnt want to risk adding any infection, and it tasted pretty good id say.

My plan is to leave for another week in the FV, then transfer to keg with some sugar for priming.

One thing i would say about the small taste i had was that it "felt" quite thin, not sure if that makes sense, but almost as if it could do with a bit more body / mouth feel (is that even the right terminology for Beer??).

i did the coopers European larger
and that was a little thin as you put it
i did not try it till it was at least 8 weeks, it said 12 and it was definitely better

now after 12 weeks its a kronenberg style and quiet pleasant

so as they all say be patient

what do the instructions say ?
most of mine i leave at least 4 week sometimes 5 before i touch them

and yes i leave mine on average 10 days to 2 weeks work and kids Dependant and then rack off for a week before bottling, but if i have a spare keg i rack off into that and then leave

Hi Titch

What fermentables did you use for your Euro and did you use the supplied yeast?

i did it exactly as the kit said, with the enhancer they wanted me to pack number 2 i think
and yeah used all there yeast, first time with that larger so went with it as normal to give me a bench mark
so if i tinker i know what to expect later ;)

Personally I find that the Euro Lager tastes better with just sugar, I've tried it a couple of times with BKE and it tastes wierd, and the yeast supplied with the kit is a lager yeast.

Enjoy

Colin
