2013 Brewday Number 2, what to do, what to do...
A kilo of black malt in 6 gallons is too much IMO! This was my stout recipe for a 5 gal brew 4750 Pale, 500 Flaked Barley, 340 Choc, 300 Crystal, 250 Amber, 100 Black Turned out cracking. You could add about 150g dark cocoa powder for a nice chocolate aftertaste!- carl_saint

Question from a New Brewer!
This is normal for bottle conditioned beer, which is what you did when you added sugar. This causes the yeast to start fermenting again and produce CO2. As the bottles are closed then the CO2 will be eventually absorbed into the beer at low temps. The sediment layer you describe is normal and...- carl_saint
