    Hi! Where do I start?

Hi Luc, if I had to do it over I'd buy a beginners kit: https://www.brewuk.co.uk/premium-starter-kit.html But then move to all grain asap by buying or making a boiler. All Grain isn't difficult, it just takes more time. Ask away, we all had to start somewhere Added edit: For bottles I'd just...

Thinking of getting a vac pac?

As I suspected these vacuum sealers are available from this Thursday in Lidl for £24.99 along with bags for £4.99. I'll grab both.

    how long

Tried a few kits many years ago but didn't really like them. I visited Prague 2 years ago and found a pub called U Fleku that brewed the most amazing Dark Lager. Little did I know where the journey would take me: I joined the forum and tried a few Bock kits, this was the only style that was...

    My Cornelius Keg adventure

Make sure everything is sealed correct! I lost a full bottle of CO2 because I didn't have the top of the corny sealed properly. A full bottle of CO2 should last you years, not 6 months in my case! I love shiny's!

a bit adventourous but i'll give it a go- LAGER from scratch

Hi RLGMIlson, have you temperature control for your lager? A true lager needs to be brewed between 9 -15°. I'm doing a Czech Pilsner tomorrow similar to Umfana's recipe. Although I've done several lagers I've never done a Pilsner type.

Thinking of getting a vac pac?

This just popped up on HUKD but it's a week late BUT.... we in NI don't always get the same deals as GB so it may pop up in the coming week or so. Fingers crossed.

    What did you brew today?

Got a new Peco Digital Boiler so tried it out with scraps I had: 3kg Irish Stout Malt (may have been Irish Ale malt lol, I dunno!) 10g Syrian Cardinal 9.2 60 minutes 25g Styrian Aurora 15 minutes Irish Moss Neale's English Ale Yeast (first I've tried this) I'll write a review on the boiler on...

So how much is an AG brew costing?

I have a local HBS close to me so no postage but a quick calculation: £25 for 25kg Irish Ale Malt, £1.50 for Zeus 15% hops, £2.50 for Safale US-05 Wash/ reuse the yeast Total cost £29 for 150L of 3.6% sessionable beer. I'm not sure what the taste would be like. That comes in at...

    23 l PET carboy suppliers?

http://www.geterbrewed.com/carboy-pet-23-litres-with-tap-5-16-7-16/ I wonder how easy these would be to clean?

What would the ultimate brew machine/set up be?

Cleaning and sterilising are the chore, something that could incorporate these would help massively. These grainfather type devices are super efficient which really makes a difference.

    mini keg from tesco

I'm not sure, I guess it would work? (I have a corny set up but not a bottling gun) Those 2nd bungs I linked too are different from the first ones. I've never tried them and they don't seem to have the red vent that the first ones have (helps during pouring). They should still work and fit I...

    mini keg from tesco

Bungs are reusable but best get a couple spare.

    mini keg from tesco

The lid will take a bit of forcing off and you'll have to buy spare bungs (cheap as chips): Just a quick Google (you can shop around): https://www.brewuk.co.uk/easy-keg-bung.html Just sterilise as you would bottles and fit the new bung. Prime with sugar. You can buy a pump but gravity will do...

So how much is an AG brew costing?

Hops, unless you buy a specific weight like on Geterbrewed, you will use several times. Yeast can be washed and reused. I reckon you could just about make a pint for 10p with a high alpha hop and cheap grains. Where AG shines is versatility. I've also never had that homebrew twang I associate...
