The lid will take a bit of forcing off and you'll have to buy spare bungs (cheap as chips): Just a quick Google (you can shop around): https://www.brewuk.co.uk/easy-keg-bung.html

Just sterilise as you would bottles and fit the new bung. Prime with sugar.

You can buy a pump but gravity will do the work just fine.

will i need to get a new bung every time i fill it or will that 1 be re usable

Only Leyland had them in stock yesterday and they needed a minimum ten quid order, plus 6.50 postage.

I'm not sure, I guess it would work? (I have a corny set up but not a bottling gun)

Those 2nd bungs I linked too are different from the first ones. I've never tried them and they don't seem to have the red vent that the first ones have (helps during pouring). They should still work and fit I reckon.

do you think it would be possible to fill with a bottling gun

Not sure, how long is it? Just measured a hobgoblin gold keg which is approx 10 inches high. I use a little bottler which is 13.5 inches long, so no problem with that.
Can't see filling being a problem, they're not that big. I'm just going to try 1 first time around and bottle the rest. Just to make sure it works properly.

Tried to remove the bung from my Hobgoblin keg today and....... oh dear.
It seems not all kegs are created equal. The Hobgob bung isn't rubber, it's a hard plastic.
Eventually managed to get it out, but can't see how it can be done in a way that will allow you to use it again.
I've got 5 of the bloody things as well!!
If anyone has managed to get this style of bung out more easily please post.

to remove the lid/bung use dental floss, make a loop and hook a screwdriver through it. then wrap the rest around the bung under its lip and use the screwdriver to pull on the floss and ligft out the bung woithout damagung the thin metal and rust proof film coating it

if its got a drain tap DONT attempt to remove or pull it wont end well if you do ;)

Thanks Fil. I'll give that a go next time.

Damaged my keg too. I wonder if this is just the new style of bung or just certain brands using it?
Will try Fils idea next time, but the 4 plastic barbs that hold this style of bung in place are solid with no give at all. It's worth a try though.
Going to order some replacements and try to remove the bung without damaging the keg this time. Thanks for the link.

the string/dental floss wrapped /tied under the top flange works best with the design of bung that allowed the central portion to be pushed thru and into the keg.

looking again at the pic above thats not the case with these, If simply pulling from under the bung flange deforms the keg lid/hole a bit of gentle drilling out of the bung centre taking care not to breach the plastic and touch the keg hole rim Should??? remove enough material for the central hole in the bung to collapse before damaging the keg when extracted with string/floss..

but thats guesswork not experience talking.

fwiw levering off is a bad idea as there is a very thin coating covering the kegs protecting against rust which is very easy to scratch off.

I considered drilling it out, but I didn't know the size of the hole in the keg that was concealed by the bastard plastic.

I was going to collect a few of these for my first ever brew, but have decided to bottle now as I can't get through 5 litres in a weekend anyway
