Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

Veg bags are finer as long as they are huge and provide plenty of space for the hops to swell and still move about and swirl around in the wort. my rule of thumb with these things is have about ten times the volume available for the hops once they're wetted. Yes that drives you to a large bag...

Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

yes but if you use an immersion chiller then the steam condenser wont work as that relies on a lid being sealed and the immersion chiller the lid with either have to be off or cracked open to make room for the chiller tails to come out.

Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

Yeah the steam condenser wont work unless the lid is sealed, though might improve things It wont stop It. I use a plate chiller which is brilliant, but they are a bit of a faff because you really need to ensure you're not getting any larger particles through into the chiller so need some form of...

    Another Ispindel query

I have a wifi extender first next to my jacketed fermenter and it works fine.

    WW2 Rations

But not everyone drinks 6% IPA's in fact very few people do. In almost every pub I know the best selling beer is by far whatever bland, generic cheap lager swill they have on like Carling or whatever, which are in the low 4%. I suspect any rise in the amount of actual alcohol consumption is...

    WW2 Rations

And Shirley Williams stopped it from infants...not sure under which party. Thatcher just stopped it for the last remaining age group of kids.

    Brewdog miss a marketing opportunity.

You’re reading far too much into what I wrote..:I used the language that was used further up. The point I was making is that let’s not make assumptions about who is at fault based on leaked emails that are probably just trying to establish what went wrong…that is exactly what happens in the...

    Brewdog miss a marketing opportunity.

pointing finger of blame or trying to establish root cause of the problem so changes to processes and procedures can be made to ensure it doesn't happen again. Someone somewhere screwed up...how do you establish what happened without, as you say, "point the finger of blame". Without...

    iPace

Don't know about that...modern cars are in many ways amazing things and an absolute testament to the ingenuity of humans and our ability to develop technology and make it cheaper for the masses. By and large they are ultra reliable (the internet makes them appear to be less reliable, but you see...

    iPace

Think that applies to all cars these days. If you dig deep enough pretty much all brands haver their own reliability issues, or certainly have from time to time, but any repair on any car these days is horrendously expensive so warranty is pretty important full stop and forget spattering...

    Octopus energy

Oh the irony of accusing someone who is skeptical of our 'illustrious and trustworthy' political elite of being brainwashed!!! Quite the opposite. I am obviously skeptical and untrusting of the lying toe rags. Recent and past events has proved that the price of power and influence of said toe...

    Is cask beer this simple?

I think that depends on your own personal definition or expectations of what cask ale is. Some of the Bass drinking old timers down my local will expect flat beer, so when they order they'll ask for a flat Bass and the server will remove the sparkler off the handpull and and you get a totally...

    Is cask beer this simple?

I've done it once with a 40litre steel cask (Firkin). I brewed the beer as normal as I would for kegging. The beer was lightly carbonated as I put positive pressure on it in the fermenter during cold crash which made it a bit of a PITA to fill the cask due to foaming from the light level of...

    Greggs vegan sausage rolls

Well that is marketing in practice again, this time government backed..I've never tasted a veg option that is tastier than a decent meat alternative. Of course there are alot of crap meat products out there, so that is easy competition, but offer up a decent sausage/burger/steak slice option up...

    Greggs vegan sausage rolls

I had not had Greggs for years..used to have them regularly at school. With all the hullabaloo around Greggs at the moment I thought I'd re-introduce myself to them and got a sausage roll...yeah I wasn't impressed at all. Not good. I guess I've been spoiled over the years with sourcing my...

NHS bosses want chippy to sell fruit and veg

the history of food in Europe is about getting calories as cheaply as possible. Pastry in pies, batter on fish. Classics like black pudding, haggis, dumplings and ******* are all just different ways to use cheap as chips grains and the 'not so premium' parts of the animal to bulk things up and...

    Octopus energy

Yeah I've been fighting it but it's ultimately inevitable as energy prices are only going one way. We're already back to 1940's level of energy prices and we're about to find out why life in the 1940's was pretty dire compared to what we're used to. So coercing us to use energy when its...
