Latest gender pay gap BS could cost Tesco 4 Billion

I believe the vast majority of people should be paid considerably more than what they currently get. They should do away with tax credits etc. And make companies pay more to make up the shortfall. You work for a company like Tesco, they make half a billion profit give or take. They pay workers...

    Sea fishing from a boat.

Good weather is definitely required! Plus with summer time, if all else fails you should get a good few mackerel! Straight home and on to the bbq!

Electric pump for racking and bottling?

Sounds like you need a bottling stick/wand as dutto says. Never bottled without one. I'm one of those that doesn't much mind bottling day as well.

Starting at 1.064 it should be mate.

    Harvested yeast starter calc question

Cheers lads. I think I'll just collect as per the example above and hopefully it'll turn out 200ml ish of yeast. Give it a try and see! Best way to find out!

    Harvested yeast starter calc question

I'm bottling some brews this weekend and hoping to gather my first yeast harvest. The process seems fairly straight forward but I'm not sure about putting numbers in to the calculator. E.g. I gather 2 litres of slurry, let it settle and decant the wort/water and collect the yeast layer. I end up...

    Brett dreggs

When discussing yeast starters there always appears to be extra emphasis on sanitisation. Is this the case or am I imagining it? If there is extra emphasis why so in comparison to just getting your wort into an fv and pitching?

Did you get it bottled? How did it go?

    Secondary or not?

I've never secondary'd myself. When I started I had the coopers FV with tap. Everything stayed in there throughout and got bottled from there. I now keep that as a bottling bucket and it gets racked just before bottling. I have noticed that just one transfer to a bottling bucket makes quite a...

    First bottling day. Advice please!

I've done that myself a few times mate and it works well. I tie it on with some cotton cord and sterilize the lot inside the bottling bucket. I've since got a little nylon bag which came with a festival kit. This I tie to the suction side of the siphon and it also works well. Don't worry if...

    Filter for boiler

I tried half of a one metre flexi a couple of brews ago in the boiler. It clogged almost instantly. There was a lot of stirring and scraping involved to get the burger emptied. Once I'd got half out I was able to grab the flexi and pull it out. I'll never try it again. Since then I have been...

    5L FV headspace query

I believe plenty of people have asked their local takeaways and restaurants for old buckets. They usually get sauces and such in ten litre buckets or thereabouts and I reckon most places would be glad of you to take them off their hands.

Too much trub in the FV

My recent brews I done quite well in keeping the trub in the kettle, or so I thought. The wort was clear as bell as it drained out. Looking at the full fv afterwards though there was about 2 to 3 inches at the bottom. By the morning it all settled to half an inch or less. I've never noticed any...

Got my first piece of shiny shiny!

Nice! There's one in the post for me too, that'll be my first shiny item. I was thinking of trimming off the end so that it'll fit the drill Chuck and using it for whirlpooling as well

Quite thick sludge on top of bucket

Give it another while. I've had similar before. It was more lumpy and segregated if that's the right description rather than a blanket like that. I couldn't get it all to drop. Racked, primed and bottled it anyway and it was good beer!

    Beer kit equipment problems.

I've never used the range. The homebrew shops are generally very helpful and can get you sorted. https://www.geterbrewed.com/geb-complete-starter-kit-for-brewing-beer-cider-and-wine/ That's an example of what's on offer. Some websites have discounts for forum members which can be found here...

    Beer kit equipment problems.

I've used thehomebrewshop, geterbrewed and the homebrew company and found them all good. As for kits, Most places seem to make them up themselves.

    Beer kit equipment problems.

Definitely try and get it all from one shop as delivery can fairly bump the price up. Most homebrew online shops have a selection of starter packs with everything you need. If they have hydrometers etc in the kit you could phone and they'd probably get everything sorted for you. Have you got any...
